the polish american trailer park photos are really uncanny valley. they do not look like america. they do not look like americans. before I saw the caption I was staring at them in consternation because there was this profound wrongness about them that I couldn’t quite place. the neatness of the paths and the lushness of the trees were obvious but even the people just looked jarringly out of time and place. love it.
