Thank you for this work of art! š It's truly beautiful and hurt me in the best way!
Below is a quick one-shot I wrote, inspired by your (museum-quality) work. This is the scene that your illustration evoked in my mind.
ā
refuge n. āshelter or protection from danger or distress; a place that provides shelter or protection
Kristine Prescott had never been committal. Nathan knew this.
She drifted like a buoy, surrendering herself to whatever current happened to catch her. New friends, new parties, new plans. Never the same people twice.
He knew it from personal experience, too ā from years of late school pick-ups, from text messages without any responses back, from hours of waiting by the back gate of the estate at 3AM, long past her promised return time, to sneak her back in without alerting Sean.
"Sorry, Nate! Things got crazy and I had to drop some friends off, and it got kinda late againā¦"
It was always the same excuse.
And yet, Nathan still found himself clinging to her with a death grip after Sean dragged him beyond his office door.
"Shh", she'd murmur. She smelled faintly of saltwater and expensive perfume. Her warm hands would cocoon the back of his neck, rubbing him as if he were a child again, as she guided him to the freezer to grab him an ice pack.
Kristine wasn't a lighthouse. Nathan knew that. But on the nights Sean's voice echoed through the halls, the light in her eyes was enough to fool him into believing there was still a shore worth swimming toward.
When the phone call came, after nearly a month of radio silence after her "gap year" from college ā it reminded him that the tide always left eventually.
"Hey, Natey⦠I just wanted to let you know I'm in, um⦠SĆ£o Paolo, now. It's nice! Really nice. I've never seen water so blue! Anyway, I actually made a friend in the Peace Corps⦠and I wasā well, I was thinking that maybe I'll stay for a couple weeks? They have a couple programs that run for a couple months or even up to a year ā I mean, I probably won't stay that long ā but it's about giving back to people who need help. It's so beautiful out here, andā"
He didn't remember the call ending. Only the sound of something shattering.
It took him a while to realize it had been his phone.
Afterwards, he found himself by the beach behind the house, all the way down the cliffside stairs, with a lighter and photograph in hand.
The photo. The goddamn photo, some corny, staged shit that Sean had paid way too much for when they were kids. He'd swiped it from the foyer. Maybe the housemaid would notice, but Sean wouldn't. Or care, really. There were more than enough photos there to prove what a "loving" family they all were.
His eyes caught hers in the photograph. He looked away before she could.
"Shit," he cursed as his fingers slipped the sparker. Goddamn sweaty palms, or maybe it was just the humidity. The horizon looked gray, like maybe a storm was coming.
All of a sudden, the wind dropped to a murmur.
"Nate," she whispered. "I'm sorry. I'll always-"
"Shut the fuck UP!" The scream ripped out of him.
The words disappeared into the surf.
The sea answered with nothing.
He grabbed a rock ā it was colder and wetter than he expected, and unpleasantly sandy ā and chucked it at the black, empty sheet of the sea. It landed with a pathetic splash.
Weak.
You're weak, Nathan.
"Shut upā¦" he exhaled shakily, shaking his head. Was he hyperventilating? No, he wasn't hyperventilating, was he? But if he wasn't, then why were his eyes burningā¦? "Justā¦"
Just breathe, Nathan.
Count to four, hold, then release for fourā¦
He listened to the instructions in his head.
Dr. Jacoby's voice always made him feel more in control.
And anyway, this was just⦠clearing his mind. Nothing else. It didn't even fucking matter ā it wasn't a big deal. Everyone around him always made everything a bigger deal than it needed to beā¦
Finally, everything went silent in his mind. Was this what they called the 'eye of the storm'? The strange stillness before everything burned. His chest felt light, unburdened, and his mind was pleasantly numb.
Most importantly, his fingers were no longer shaking like some goddamn old person in a home.
He flicked the wheel. The scent of burning stabbed him in the nostrils. It was sharper than the smoky, roasted pull of cigarettes.
The fire found her smile first.
It licked at the edge of her countenance, curled it inward, blackened her eyes, then consumed her face entirely. Then it reached for the space between them, hollowing it out, erasing it from existence.
He expected to feel something. Anger, maybe, or vindication. But he felt nothing.
He stared at the photo until it was a gaping maw of fire, and tossed it into the ocean. The waves reclaimed Kristine as effortlessly as it always had.
She had never been his lighthouse. He knew that.
But when the tide carried her away, nothing remained between Nathan and everything waiting on shore.
OMGGGGG !! I'm honestly so honored - you have no idea !! šš This is AMAZING !!
I didn't have any particular story or context in mind when I drew it, and yet your fic and your choice of words feel so incredibly right. The only thing I actually had in mind was that the scene took place on the beach - and you even picked up on that !!š
Thank you so so much for writing and sharing this absolute masterpiece with us !! This is genuinely incredible šš

How do you feel about the LiS cast, especially about Nathan's actor?
Thanks for the ask !! š
I personally think this casting is great !! I admit, I have no idea about the acting abilities of most of the actors, but I appreciate that. I'm glad they didn't fill the cast with overly famous names. There's a certain charm in discovering new actors through a project like this. Life is Strange has always felt like a relatively small and heartfelt story to me, despite how popular it became, so having fresh faces somehow feels more fitting than seeing a cast made up entirely of celebrities.
I also find the increased diversity in the cast really interesting. I'm curious to see whether it'll simply be a visual change or if it'll actually influence some of the storylines (for example, I wonder if Kate's bullying arc might also touch on issues of racism)
The only actor I truly know is Emily Carey, from House of the Dragon, and I thought they did a fantastic job as young Alicent. So Iām really excited to see them again in this serie - I think theyāll be great as Victoria āØ
As for Esther McGregor who will play Rachel, I only saw about two seconds of her acting in Kenobi, so I donāt know her range as an actress. My only concern is that she looks a bit older than the rest of the cast (even if she is only 24 years old), and I worry that this might weaken the emotional impact of LIS, especially the idea that these characters are just teenagers. If the cast feels too old, it could take away from the innocence and vulnerability associated with youth. But weāll see !
As for the rest of the cast, I hadn't seen any of them before ^^
Regarding Billy Barratt as Nathan, I'm actually really happy with the choice !! š„ Granted, I've never seen him act, so my opinion is based only on his appearance for now, but visually I think he's a very convincing choice. I think Nathanās role is a particularly complex one, so I genuinely hope heāll be able to do it justice ^^
One thing I particularly love about Billy Barratt's appearance is his eyes, especially the natural under-eye circles he seems to have. When I draw this character, I like adding a bit of redness around the eyes to emphasize fatigue and/or drug effects - so Iām really happy to see a similar aesthetic in the actor š¤
That said, the strong reactions surrounding some of these characters also make me a little concerned for the cast. If I find out that any of the actors are being harassed because of the roles they play, Iāll be genuinely upset about it .. Hopefully people will remember to separate fiction from reality ! At the end of the day, we're all here because we enjoy LIS and I'm genuinely excited to see what this cast brings to these characters āØ
this was inspired by a dream told to me by @thaismarendaz and I really felt like it was something Nathan would also experience, so this short one-shot is what my brain came up with! no ships in this one. enjoy <3
It was nighttime.
Nathan wasn't sure in the sense of the time or where he was; it was more an omnipresentĀ knowingĀ that permeated through him.
The sky was inky black, the kind that pressed down like a book-weight on a loose stack of papers. His usual loud mind was empty of its usual buzzing pests, though. Instead, what he felt inside was a striking hollowness ā like looking into the eyes of a taxidermied animal.
Where the hell was he?
And then, from the dark, foggy landscape: light. A crimson glow. It pulsed in time with his heart beat, as did his breath. He was breathing heavily.
Thump. Thump.
It was a fire. He was walking along a beach. Arcadia's beach? He wasn't sure. It looked familiar yet distant at the same time. The pale orange spotlight of sand became closer before it became farther ā a tricky oasis in the dark desert of night.
His feet brought him forwards ā he was a ghost tethered to the will of an unseen force.
There were people there. Friends, sitting in a circle around the fire. Victoria, Hayden, and some others from the Vortex Club. Logan, holding a beer. Even Rachel with a cigarette dangling from her upturned, soft-looking lips.
They were laughing. Saying things. What things? He couldn't hear them.
Iāve seen your goated billy barratt nathan art and humbly request a drawing of that version of nathan either with emily carey as victoria or tatum grace hopkins as max whenever you feel like it , keep being a goated lis artist š«”
Thank you so much !! šš«”
I can't wait to see these two disasters on screen !

If you had to name one (active) person, who do you think best represents the Nathan fandom? and why?
thanks for the ask! <3
if I had to name one person, it has to be... @thaismarendaz!
I didn't even make that up btw, it's canon:
Actually thoā I think her consistently amazing art of our resident favorite troublesome lad, combined with her analysis posts informed by her irl professional expertise in dealing with cases just like Nathan's, qualifies her as a great representative of the Nathan fandom!
Everyone contributes in their own way of course, but since you asked for representative... well, my mind went to one person š
Omggg šš„¹ Youāre too sweet !! Thank you so much !!šš
Iām honestly so honored that you thought of me and took the time to make this amazing edit š Thank youuu !
this is so silly but i checked out your blog because of my sideblog ( @langfield ) and saw you put little hope in your top ten games and just wanted to say : great taste!! lis and little hope feel very tethered to me in a way i canāt describe ( perhaps itās the grief narrative of it all and the on-going battle of letting go + the mentally ill characters ) but theyāre both among my own favorites too so. yeah!! just wanted to say that <3
Ohh Iām happy we share the same taste ! šš
Little Hope is soo underrated !! Iām sadly absolutely terrible at keeping everyone alive, but the story is incredible. The ending delivers one of the best plot twists Iāve ever seen in a video game - it genuinely caught me off guard in the best way. And like you said, the themes it explores - grief, regret, acceptance, and everything in between - are handled so well. You go in thinking itās just a classic horror game, but it turns out to be something so much deeper, centered around trauma and how people cope with it.
I also totally get what you mean about it feeling quite similar to LIS. Thereās a deep emotional core in both of them - a quiet heaviness beneath everything, especially in the way they deal with loss and loneliness.
this has been in my mind since yesterday that I ALMOST lose sleep š
Did Nathan actually sexually assault Chloe? I saw a comment on tiktok that Chloe talked about it to Max at the lighthouse (I think the commenter said it was in episode 1) but it wasn't specific but more like implied that Nathan sexually assaulted her
Idk if it's true or not because it's been years since I've watched Life is Strange playthroughs and also it's been years since I've played on my phone (but only episode 1 because I have to buy other episodes š)
Lastly, what's your opinion on that?
Thanks for your ask !! š Hereās what Chloe tells Max in Episode 1 :
āHe [Nathan] is an elite asshole who sells bad shit cut with laxative .. and he doses me with some drug in his room. I met him in some shithole bar that didnāt card me. He was too rich for the place and too wasted. And he kept flashing bills. I was an idiot. I thought he was so blazed it would be an easy score. [ā¦] Three grand plus interest. And before I could get a chunk of that from Nathan, he dosed my drink with some shit. I know I passed out on the floor. I woke up and that perv was smiling, crawling towards me with a camera. Everything was a blur ... I tried to kick him in the balls and broke a lamp. Nathan freaked, so I managed to bum rush the door and get the hell out.ā
The game deliberately leads the player to interpret this sequence as an attempted sexual assault. However, in my view, this moment primarily functions as narrative misdirection, setting up the Dark Room reveal to hit even harder. During the investigation, we think weāre dealing with a teenager targeting girls sexually (Chloe, Kate, maybe Rachel), but in Episode 4, we realize itās something much bigger and far more organized.
My interpretation of Chloeās account is not that Nathan intended to sexually assault her, but rather that he was trying to recreate what he does with Jefferson in the Dark Room - drugging girls and photographing them while they are unconscious or only partially conscious. An important element supporting this interpretation is the photograph found in Nathanās room :
This may lead to the following question : does what happens in the Dark Room constitute sexual assault ?
When you look at the photos taken by Jefferson (and Nathan), thereās nothing overtly sexual : neither in the framing nor in the way the victims are posed. As a result, from a legal standpoint, these acts would qualify as physical assaults rather than sexual assaults. Plus, the game itself makes it explicit, through a journal entry, that no sexual assault took place.
So no, I do not think that Nathan sexually abused Chloe. However, he did abuse her physically !
However, some fans stick to the initial interpretation and argue that the game is indeed referring to sexual assault, albeit implicitly. The story clearly engages with themes closely related to it : misogyny, control over womenās bodies, domination, non-consensual drug use, etc.
Personally, I prefer a reading that stays closer to the gameās explicit content - taking the story at face value rather than as an allegory. That said, Iām not claiming to have the ācorrectā interpretation. Everyone is free to understand the story in their own way !
I was tagged by the lovely @betty-fran to share MY TOP 9 VIDEO GAMES! Thank you for the tag š¤
I included 10 so that the pics would fit better. There are obviously much more than these. I played an ungodly amount of hidden object games and dating sims that I didn't include but I do also have my favorites among them. With these out of the way, it was still hard to choose. There are platformers and rogue-like that didn't make the cut but have more than hundreds of hours of gameplay sunk into them. That and also... I was into mmorpgs for about a decade and a half and didn't feel like including those since I don't play mmo's very much nowadays. And I also didn't include games I haven't personally played but watched a stream of (the Resident Evil games come to mind - I haven't played any of those myself but do like the franchise quite a lot).
Life is Strange
What Remains of Edith Finch
Baldur's Gate 3
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Oxenfree
Stardew Valley
Disco Elysium
Scarlet Hollow
Anna's Quest
Feel free to ask me what I like about these. I love to ramble about video games. Thanks again for the tag.
And now to keep this lovely game going I'm going to tag: @thaismarendaz, @thornheartcat, @kpchrs, @1root, @silverstar15 and @hadvarandralof Don't feel obligated to do it of course. And if any of you want to do it and share your fave games, consider yourself tagged!
Thank you for the tag, my dear !š I followed your aesthetic and made my own list of my top 10 favorite video games
Life is Strange
Clair Obscur : Expedition 33
Stray
The Dark Pictures Anthology : Little hope
Zelda Twilight Princess
What Remains of Edith Finch
Assassin's Creed : Odyssey
Cyberpunk 2077
Before Your Eyes
Detroit : Become Human
The order of the 10 games is kind of random ^^
To be honest, gameplay isnāt my main focus when it comes to video games - Iām much more interested in the story they tell. While not all of these are strictly narrative-driven, I would definitely recommend them if you appreciate a strong story.
Everyone is welcome to keep the chain going - feel free to reblog with your own list š

a kinda harsh question, but do you think jefferson took advantage of the admiration nathan had for him and abused/did inappropriate things to him?
Thank you for your ask !!Ā šĀ (I'm so sorry it took me so much time ! I'm terribly behind on my asks š« )
There are three main types of abuse : physical, psychological and sexual. I think your question mainly concerns the third category, since you also mention āinappropriate thingsā. But Iāll still go over all three because I love to ramble ^^
I put the analysis under the cut, since it's quite long and because of the sensitive subjects. (It's actually the first time Tumblr has flagged one of my posts as mature content haha.) If you played LIS1, I don't think you'll find anything chocking here - still : TW for abuse !
Sexual abuse :
This is one of the biggest controversies surrounding the game - whether the victims of the Dark room were SA. This idea is suggested very early in the story, especially through Chloeās and Kateās story. In unused content, Max even explicitly asks Nathan if he r*ped Kate. This sexual undertone persists until the Dark room plot twist.
However, beyond this initial suggestion, nothing later confirms that anything sexual actually happened. On the contrary, the newspaper that Max can read on the plane seems to confirm that nothing of the sort occurred. Therefore, I believe no sexual abuse was committed against the victims (Nathan included).
Although kidnapping, drugging and photographing unconscious individuals is deeply twisted and, of course, legally reprehensible, it does not constitute SA in itself, from a legal point of view - as the photographs contain no sexual content and no intent of this nature can be inferred from Jeffersonās behavior.
Rachelās case is particular, as it is more or less established that she had an intimate relationship with Jefferson. However, I wouldnāt extend this exception to Nathan, as nothing in the game suggests such a relationship. That said, a headcanon in that direction wouldnāt surprise me. Even though Jefferson gives me a very heterosexual vibe, control and domination remain central characteristics of his personality.
Physical abuse :
Regarding physical abuse, the game again gives no explicit answers. However, unlike SA, this hypothesis seems really plausible to me.
Despite his calm appearance, Jefferson does not hesitate to resort to physical violence - for example, when he beat the shit out of David āI-was-a-soldierā MadsenĀ š. Physical violence, or the threat of it, could easily be a way to maintain control over Nathan.
Nathan himself also has a profile that makes him more likely to end up in such a violent relationship. An unused audio file explains he was beaten by his father. Unfortunately, itās not uncommon for victims of violence to later recreate similar patterns. Violence then becomes something ānormalā, sometimes even comforting because it is familiar. This kind of figures can be perceived as strong and protective, while self-esteem erodes and the idea of deserving what one suffers sets in. In this vicious cycle, fear and love can become intertwined. Nathan perceiving Jefferson as a father figure substitute makes it plausible that some dynamics between them echo what he experienced with his father.
Moreover, physical abuse doesnāt necessarily have to involve overt violence. Administering a substance via a syringe without someoneās consent also counts as physical abuse. Iām referring here to the photo where Nathan is posed in the junkyard with Rachelās body. The quality of the image doesnāt make it completely clear, but I personally found Nathanās eyes empty and unfocused. This echoes one of Kateās photos when she was drugged, with Max commenting that she ālooked so doped upā. Nathanās very limp, awkward posture reinforces the idea that he isnāt fully aware in this photo.
Furthermore, I believe this was done without his consent, as Jefferson does with each of his victims. Nathan admires Jefferson and wants to be like him. That means being the one in control - the one holding the camera and expressing his art through it. I find it unlikely that he would willingly accept being placed in such a position of vulnerability - unconscious, exposed and photographed.
I therefore believe he was, at least once, drugged against his will by Mark Jefferson.
Psychological abuse :
First of all, itās important to note that the vast majority of physical and sexual abuse is also psychological abuse. Experiencing an attack on our physical integrity is very often traumatic. Therefore, all of the elements listed above also apply in this context.
However, beyond any trauma that may stem from physical or sexual harm, Nathan undeniably endured psychological abuse at Jeffersonās hands. Their relationship relies entirely on manipulation, a subtle but powerful form of psychological abuse. Jefferson exploits Nathanās immense distress to gain his trust, positioning himself as a reassuring authority figure while his only goal is to access the Prescott fortune and use Nathan however he sees fit.
Once Nathan is under his influence, the abuse becomes subtler and more cruel. Jefferson adopts a cold, distant demeanor, humiliates Nathan, and belittles him, treating him as if he were unworthy of attention or trust. This distance creates a cycle of emotional dependence : Nathan, lacking guidance and validation, clings desperately to this toxic relationship while it gradually destroys him.
(I could go into detail about these psychological abuses, but I don't know if it would be interesting, as the game is quite explicit)
In conclusion, Nathan was definitely mentally abused by Jefferson. I also think he suffered some physical abuses, but I donāt believe he experienced any sexual abuse from him, as nothing in the game really points in that direction š¤·š»āāļø
I donāt know why, but whenever I use the line to hide content, Tumblr tends to completely mess up my image layout, so sorry if this one looks off š„² And if anyone has a solution, Iām all ears !
Your analyses are always amazing <3 I think you're right on regarding how Jefferson likely employed physical abuse (especially considering how reactive Nathan was to getting punched by Warren in Ep4), or at the very least the threat of it, as well as the low likelihood of Nathan being sexual abused by him (I don't think it's impossible for their dynamic as you said, but I don't think the developers intended for this to be the case).
Speaking of Jefferson's manipulation tactics, we actually get to see exactly how he employs them on a student in distress in the scene where Kate appears to seek Jefferson's help after learning about the Vortex Party video in Ep2:
This moment always chilled me to my core. One conversation with him was enough to serve as Kate's tipping point to commit suicide. He effectively:
belittled her reaction to the video and put her down ("Knock off this martyr crap"),
insulted her ("Stop acting so brittle!"), and
attacked her character ("Maybe this is your way of getting attention...")
Which fulfill nearly all the criteria for psychological abuse:
(minus silent treatment and controlling who she sees)
If I had to guess, it was likely due to Kate also seeing Mr. Jefferson as a person with elevated 'status', that she had such an intense reaction to his words. Having someone with that level of authority and respect belittle you in that way, especially when you know they are otherwise well-respected professionally, can be extremely detrimental to one's emotional state when they are vulnerable.
It really makes you wonder what kind of tactics Jefferson employed on Nathan that we didn't get to see.
I'd love to hear about your analysis on what we can surmise of Jefferson's relationship with Nathan through how he treated Kate and any other scenes we can see Jefferson's darker side!
Your comparison with Kate is really insightful !! š Thank you for this addition !
Hereās my take on Nathan and Jeffersonās relationship (sorry for the length haha I'm rambling too much) :
Abuse within a relationship often develops gradually, which is precisely why it is so difficult to break free from. At first, everything appears normal. Then come small, isolated behaviors that wouldnāt necessarily be identified as abusive on their own. Over time, however, these behaviors accumulate, intensify and reshape the dynamic entirely. And I think that is exactly what happened between Nathan and Jefferson.
In the beginning, Jefferson likely relied on validation and flattery. He told Nathan exactly what he needed to hear, presenting himself as an authority figure who both recognized and encouraged him. For someone like Nathan - who is deeply seeking approval - this would have been incredibly impactful.
From there, I think the dynamic evolved into something much closer to what we see with Kate. Nathan is a psychologically fragile character - just as Kate was at that point in the story - which makes it easy for Jefferson to pull the right strings and provoke the emotions he wants (shame, guilt, doubt, regret, etc). Since Nathanās respect for Jefferson is already firmly established, his words carry immense weight. Disappointing a role model is painful, and that pressure alone can drive someone to adapt their behavior to meet expectations - especially someone as approval-seeking as Nathan.
This creates the perfect conditions for gaslighting. Like with Kate, Jefferson can distort reality, undermine Nathanās perceptions, and reshape his understanding of events - all while maintaining his charismatic and composed faƧade.
Over time, I think Nathan became emotionally dependent on his relationship with Jefferson.
Itās only after reaching a point of no return - once Jefferson could be certain Nathan wouldnāt back out - that he probably involved him in the Dark Room project. From that moment on, Jefferson no longer needs to maintain the same level of performative charm. Instead, he can gradually let the mask slip, revealing more of the person Max ultimately encounters in Episode 5.
This shift likely begins with increasingly harsh remarks - far more brutal than anything he allowed himself before - as we can already glimpse in their exchanges : āI'd like nothing more than to be proud of youā, āI haven't set all this up and shored my vast wisdom, just so you can fuck it up with your teen-rageā.
We can actually see in Episode 5 that Jefferson become aggressive and angry when things donāt go the way he wants. If Max, tied to a chair for just a few hours, can get him to that point, itās clear that Nathan must have as well during the months they worked together (- it probably went further).
Another key aspect of Jeffersonās manipulation is the isolation he cultivates and exploits. Nathan is already socially marginalized - feared, misunderstood and largely rejected by his peers. That kind of pre-existing isolation makes him especially vulnerable to anyone who offers him a sense of validation or belonging. Jefferson doesnāt just take advantage of that isolation - he deepens it. By positioning himself as the only person who truly āunderstandsā Nathan, he reinforces a dynamic where Nathan gradually withdraws from everyone else. In my opinion, the statement āyouāre the only voice I trustā is particularly telling : it reflects not only trust, but dependency.
This kind of emotional monopoly is a classic mechanism in abusive dynamics. The abuser becomes the sole reference point for validation and guidance. As a result, the victim becomes increasingly cut off from alternative perspectives that could challenge or contradict the abuserās influence. In Nathanās case, this means that Jefferson isnāt just important to him - he becomes essential.
At the same time, Jefferson appears to use the silent treatment, with Nathan explicitly pleading : āyouāve been ignoring me the past few months [ā¦] please donāt make me feel like shit.ā This withdrawal of attention is not incidental - it reinforces dependency while punishing Nathan as the same time.
It also wouldnāt surprise me if Jefferson actively weaponized Nathanās psychiatric condition against him - particularly his disconnection from reality. This is a really strong notion : in a clinical context, being ādisconnected from realityā refers to a profound impairment in oneās ability to distinguish what is real from what is not - it implies distortions in perception (hallucinations), belief and/or interpretation of reality itself.
Nathan is medicated and under psychiatric care, which means he is aware of this vulnerability. He knows that his perception cannot always be fully trusted. And that awareness, paradoxically, makes him even more susceptible to manipulation. Someone like Jefferson could easily exploit this by subtly reframing events, denying what happened, or imposing his own version of reality - knowing Nathan would be more likely to doubt himself than to challenge him. In that context, gaslighting becomes especially effective, because it doesnāt just create confusion - it reinforces an existing fracture in Nathanās grasp on reality.
In the end, Jeffersonās abuse escalated over time, eventually leading to Nathanās murder š„²
