original Dust sans belongs to Ask!Dusttale (correct me if i'm wrong)
this is my version of Dust Sans from my au One Last Time and its called Phantom Dust.
in my headcanone, Dust obtained the ability to reset after killing the human, but not willingly. what this means is that when Dust dies, he is sent back to the point in time where he could prevent his death, rather then repeat the entire day.
Dust was always desperate to finally die, but the resets made it difficult to take his own life or die as a whole. after Bad Sanses and the Stars became neutral (no longer going against each other) Dust slowly began to accept his existence and with Dream's help he actually started to feel a bit better, although he never truly recover. the only problem were his meds. as his schizophrenia progressively got worse, the meds were no longer as effective as they used to be.
unfortunately, his condition became a lot, and during one of his episodes he accidently fell of the roof where he was smoking, leading to his grewsome death. somehow the reset didn't happen and Dust found himself in the void of his conscience, his memories of who he was, his loved ones and the life he lived were slowly withering away. in the end the only thing that Dust could feel were all of his bottled up emotions, which without the memories to anker them, felt too overwhelming. he was left with fury, rage and uncontrolled thirst for blood that he kept inside throughout his life, which gave him a reason to stay. for the first time, Dust was able to die, but now he had something he was craving so much that he chose to come back.
without a physical body, Dust became a phantom and uses shadows and his ashes instead, giving him ability to manipulate shadows, turn to smoke at will and travel to any place with a shade. he doesn't remember anyone or where he lived, so he wonders, murders people who cross him to satisfy his need for violence.
i made this au quite a while ago, so please don't judge if stuff doesn't make sense. this au was inspired by an add i saw of a film called "The Crow" and songs "Crack in the ground" and "HEY" by IC3PEAK. i will do a better drawing because the hands around Dust's face usually cover his eyes, ears and mouth (reference to "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil")
