-INFJ/Multifandom/Professional Fangirl/Bisexual/Born and raised in Asia Hi, I'm weird and I like/blog about a lot of things, which I organize through the tags. I often talk a lot on them too, and sometimes I may have some opinions xD If you're ok with that, then you're cool :) Enjoy your stay~☆*ヾ(-∀・*)*+☆
I would prefer you to not follow this blog if you're a minor, which can vary from country to country (though most of the time it's 18). This blog posts mature content. I'm known to be a fan of things that are purposely provocative and edgy. Also I'm quite liberal with swearing and dirty jokes. xD I trust you to be able to curate your own internet experience.
This blog is a personal blog. I blog mainly for myself and about the things I like. So expect sporadic updates and no real consistency. While I do my best to organize my numerous interests by the tags, sometimes I'm just lazy. xD And while I'm no expert on anything, I consider myself an open person. I love trying new things so please feel free to recommend cool stuff to me! I myself am very fond of sharing stuff I find cool with others.
I write and talk a LOT on the tags, sometimes deep, sometimes silly, so if you're ok with that, please proceed. I really appreciate people who aren't bothered by reading. Because in the end, blogging isn't really blogging without people expressing themselves. There are times when a post resonated with me not because of the content itself but the tags. I've had many a good laugh, a new insight, a "ohhh you get it!!" thanks to reading tags.
I'm a fan of anime, games, music (especially vkei and anime/game OSTs) and the like!
Askbox is always open~Please feel free to talk to me about anything, but I draw the line on politics, and stuff intended to purposely provoke reactions/push agendas/be malicious, because they honestly just don't interest me and I think real life is difficult as it is, no need to bring that negativity here. DO talk to me about fandom though (e.g. why this ship should sail/sink, why this song is/isn't fire, etc.), I'm very enthusiastic about fandom. ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و
You are free to use my stuff for inspiration and the like! No need to ask permission but please credit back to this blog, especially if hosting on another site.
And if you see me spamming likes/reblogs on your blog, pay no heed xD Tumblr is prone to a lot of circle blogging, and I have every right to go through your blog and archive, as you have every right to go through mine. (but please don't mind my earlier posts or some other things, lots of cringe xD then again...it's Tumblr) Some old posts I'm not proud of, but I don't delete them because I believe they represented who I was at that point in time. I believe people can change several times in the span of their lives, and are multifaceted.
Thank you for any likes/reblogs/comments, I know it's a given but I believe saying thank you goes a long way.

That time I wish I had infinite pockets - A Resident Evil Zero Review
After the fantastic and timeless entry that is RE1 REmake, it only made sense for me to continue playing its prequel RE0...
...now RE0, like RE3R, is sort of the black sheep of the RE series, and while it has some very glaring flaws, I honestly still had an overall fun time with it! Maybe it's my tendency to prefer seeing the positive aspects in things, but I wouldn't call this particular entry a "bad" game, but definitely a 7/10 game that could have easily been a 8.5/10 game had the devs considered certain design changes to the gameplay.
Most especially...the lack of item boxes. ( ╥ω╥ ) Hence why I wish I had "infinite pockets"...
The nightmare being the lack of item boxes and the hookshot taking two slots MOTHERFU-
-fun. (⁀ᗢ⁀)
After an exhilarating opening cinematic, to the death train we go...
"Hello handsome~" vs "Call HR" xDDD
It is here that Rebecca meets wanted fugitive Billy Coen, who according to S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team Captain Enrico Marini is "brutal" and "ruthless" but he failed to mention "quite cute"...😳
*AHEM* Billy, like Carlos from RE3, is a "one and done" character but I honestly quite enjoyed his muscles and voice back and forth with Rebecca in this game. I personally enjoyed the buddy/partner system and liked how certain puzzles had to be solved through Rebecca and Billy's teamwork (sometimes said puzzles had to have them go their separate ways), which complements the narrative where Billy suggests to Rebecca they cooperate for a better chance at surviving this whole mess.
Like the "zapping" system was smoother than expected! But I think this cool mechanic got overshadowed by what is definitely this game's biggest flaw: inventory management. As mentioned, the lack of item boxes and each character having only six inventory slots each (akin to Chris in RE1) really felt like juggling items between characters and sometimes I brought the other character with me, not as an assistant to combat, but as an extra "backpack". xD Yes, it's that bad. ._. Transporting items, especially key items, coupled with the door loading animations, was quite a hassle when moving between areas.
When I found out you can switch outfits, I proceeded to dress-up my darlings~☆*:.。.o(≧▽≦)o.。.:*☆
Rebecca I'm dying from too much RIZZ~
The train segment I found quite unique for a RE game, and I remember going "shit" when I had Billy locked in that 2nd floor room and Rebecca had to get the icepick for him. xD Being tankier and being stronger, I often had Billy scout out unexplored areas while I had Rebecca wait at a save room or hub zone.
Thus he was also the one I sent to the back of the train to activate the control device for the brakes, frankly I'm just glad this game doesn't have Crimson Heads. xD
We then make it to the Training Facility, and I get a taste of the infamous "item dumping grounds". xD
I'm growing sparkly plants and then I'm gonna torch 'em!!
But yes, the amount of stuff I left here only to pick up again later deserves its own counter at the game completion screen. xD
YAS QUEEN~
There were some parts though where Rebecca was forced to go to certain places alone, and honestly I hate those bugs :( They're always a pain to deal with and I'd feel that I'm wasting too much precious resources on them.
Speaking of resources, I played this game on actual! Normal difficulty, and I found that while the game was relatively generous with ammo, especially handgun ammo, I can't say the same for healing items GOD. xDD Like the screenshot above was after I collected the Blue Herbs from the infirmary and the one First Aid Spray, and whenever I got a new healing item, I was almost always bound to use it immediately.
It was also at the Training Facility that I meet...the Leech Men (not counting the first one Rebecca encounters at the train segment). And boy I got scared shit the first time when I went into the Training Facility toilets, and decided to cut my losses and escape...only to run into another one just outside. xD Every time I hear that music that plays whenever they're around I get real panicky and just hit 'em with molotovs. That song is the stuff of nightmares. Not like this song. This song is fire. 🤘
The Centurion boss fight was...eh. I tried a knife-only tactic at first but I'm not that skilled, so I ended up using most of my resources on that fight.
YAS QUEEN 2.0~
The basement section had another wonderful surprise in the form of Eliminators...god this game loves its animals so much that I kept thinking that this was some hell's version of Animal Crossing. xD I remember having to rescue Rebecca and the game had the gall to even put one of those apeshits in the save room. xD And thanks to a guide I was able to avoid the "Hookshot Walk of Shame" but not the "Chemical Walk of Shame". xD
We should totally form a band :D We'd be called R&B
So because I sent Billy up to the 2nd floor of the Laboratory, and since Billy can't mix chemicals, Rebecca had to go back all the way to the infirmary just to get the Green Chemical, while dealing with those apeshits and ugh bugs. Hence the "Chemical Walk of Shame". xD
I felt that while RE1 also had a lot of backtracking, it didn't feel as tedious thanks to the presence of item boxes, which was a lifesaver when you needed to store key items you didn't need to use yet. I really think RE0 could have benefited from some more foresight with the game design, because gameplay-wise RE0 is technically the same as RE1, complete with gorgeous pre-rendered backgrounds and character models that still look great even today, yet RE1 is the one universally loved by the fans. With RE0 I found myself playing as Billy most of the time, which kind of made the partner system a bit moot since exploration and combat just favored Billy in general. It would have been nicer to have more of a balance between Billy and Rebecca's strengths and weaknesses.
That said, I love how feisty Rebecca is in this game, and from what I've seen and heard it's a bit at odds with her personality in RE1, then again we could probably sum this up to trauma, imagine going through horrors and then expecting to reunite with your team only to discover that they're missing/dead...if I were Rebecca, I'd feel hopeless too.
YAS QUEEN!! Beat the Tyrant in a game of squats!!
Girl even took out a Tyrant all by herself!! I had my magnum shots to thank for this xD
After being separated thanks to one of those apeshits Eliminators, R&B reunite once again at the Treatment Plant.
Rebecca I'm DYING but I'm so FINE~
So you're dying but you're also fine. == So do you need help?
YAS QUEEN.
I don't know whether to envy Rebecca or Billy so both then 😮💨
But yeah, I like how Billy and Rebecca gradually warm up to each other throughout the game, from Rebecca deciding to lie for Billy's sake and Billy telling her about what happened on his mission, RE has always had that spirit of trust between partners, like Chris and Rebecca, Jill and Barry in RE1, Leon and Claire in RE2, Jill and Carlos in RE3, Leon and Ashley and eventually Luis in RE4, this trust is all the more significant when character A feels they can entrust their chances of survival to character B and vice versa, a nice little detail I'd like to appreciate about the RE games.
We make a great team :D
Accidental hilarious screenshot xD Rebecca looks so done xD
But yes I struggled quite a bit with the second Queen Leech fight, especially when I had to protect Rebecca while she turns the valves, took me a few tries but I eventually got the hang of it and cue my relief once Rebecca turned that final valve.
Little did Rebecca know, it was a transition of one horror to the next...
That said, the finale was a nice sendoff for Billy who very much deserved freedom and to live the rest of his life without having to be punished for something he didn't do. I now get that "one and done" type characters aren't necessarily a bad thing, if anything they're the lucky ones in the sense that they can live the rest of their lives in peace. Leon on the other hand... ._. I love Leon but yeah give the guy a break, Capcom.
Not my best performance xD But I tried my best nevertheless.
Overall, this game I find to indeed be one of the harder RE entries, especially when you've played the REmakes first. I recommend playing this game only after you get a feel of the gameplay and controls in RE1, as RE1 while also being its own challenge, doesn't punish you as hard as RE0.
I got the Leech Hunter minigame and "Wesker Mode" as a reward for the completing the main campaign, but I'm usually done once I beat the main story and Wesker has never really been my cup of tea since my first entry with RE4R. xD Eh...I've just never found him a very compelling villain to be honest. Maybe that will change once I start RE5, but I'm not getting my hopes up. xD
Bonus screenshots below!
I will swipe right, thank you very much. ♡ ( ̄З ̄)
This scene was extremely campy even by Resident Evil standards, you'd think a moment later he would REAP THE TEARS OF THE VICTIMS CRIEEES-
Rebecca what's in the boooxxxxx?!
Your brain = =
When you shouldn't have had an extra burrito but life tells you to CARRY OOONN, WE'LL CARRY OOONN~
The sun is shining, the tank is clean...BILLY THE TANK IS CLEAN!!
This party's getting crazy and these residents are getting evil...HEAVEN OR HELL - LET'S ROCK - Resident Evil 1 Remake Review
So I had my experience with the iconic Spencer Mansion in the RE installment that started it all. And I want to slap past me for thinking "how could fixed camera angles possibly be scary?" compared to the REmake's trilogy more immersive over-the-shoulder perspective. xD
Also I will never understand why people think it's always a good idea to split up in a big scary mansion with a lot of unknown factors but yeah we're not here to discuss the logic of what is undoubtedly a fantastic game and the trendsetter for the survival horror genre.
But if you want to destroy people with facts and logic, Capcom's got you covered with their other well-known beloved series. :D
Like RE2 REmake, this game is extremely dark and I'm amazed that Wesker can still see shit in those sunglasses of his. xD
I had a choice of choosing Chris or Jill as my starting character, and (thankfully) chose Jill. A lockpick and an extra two inventory slots make a huge difference in my opinion because inventory management in this game is actual HELL. xD I now appreciate more all those little quality of life updates in later games like getting inventory pouches, being able to combine an item you picked up with an item you already have despite having a full inventory, and being able to discard regular items.
All this talk of a Jill Sandwich has made Barry very hungry.
This game though, despite being released in 2002 and being now over 20+ years old, looks fantastic despite its age. The character models look great amongst the pre-rendered backgrounds. The dev team also absolutely nailed the claustrophobic and oppressive atmosphere of Spencer Mansion, both on a visual aspect and auditory aspect.
I found the use of sound (and sometimes total lack of save for ambient noises like footsteps and thunder) really effective on giving me the creeps as I mentally steeled myself for whatever horrors were just waiting for me around the corner, which was also complemented by the fixed camera angles.
Fuck Crimson Heads, Hunters, and Chimeras especially. :( Could you imagine Crimson Heads in the RE Engine? Even more nightmare fuel. 😱 Zombies are scary, so cue my heart exploding when I found out zombies in this game can run. I'd rather race them in go karts if it meant I could be SAFE in my car UGH-
*ahem* But sadly S.T.A.R.S. are not to go joyriding in a big scary mansion. :( We're the Special Tactics and Rescue Service not the Speed Turbo and Racing Superstars. Even Ethan Winters got to go joyriding. :(
And despite my gripes with inventory management in this game, I did like how it added to the stress of limited resources and the presence of Ink Ribbons even on Easy difficulty also let me be careful on when to save (I only found out at the end of the game that I had been playing on Easy mode when I thought I was on Normal xD). But I still had a hard time... ._.
Day 1 at Spencer Mansion - Today I got a shotgun and Barry called me a sandwich.
Speaking of Ink Ribbons, this one is my favorite save room without a doubt, the typewriter placed atop a desk with the lamp lighting it up just feels extra cozy.
While the gameplay of Resident Evil is without a doubt exhilarating, I can't say the same for the story but there's a certain narm charm in this installment's voice acting. xD Resident Evil lore on the other hand though is something I find to be really fascinating, and reading through the various files in RE1 REmake was quite fun.
The fact that I'm not a Jill Sandwich. Thanks Barry.
I also really liked Jill's companion in her side of the story, the cool and capable Barry Burton. I wanted to get the best ending so I made sure to hand Barry back his Silver Serpent gun in the Lisa Trevor bossfight, and to unlock the path to Chris' cell with the three MO disks.
But Lisa Trevor is probably the most tragic character I've encountered in Resident Evil so far. Just reading all the notes left behind by the Trevor family and their fates really just filled me with a sense of sorrow. How evil do you have to be to even experiment on children? It's story details like these that make you want to root for people like Jill and Chris when they say they want to take down Umbrella, as the ones who suffered the brunt of Umbrella's experiments were without a doubt the people who didn't even have the means to protect themselves.
It was also quite obvious from the get-go that S.T.A.R.S. had a traitor and who said traitor was (think of your cat!!), but for the sake of plot, we only confirm our suspicions once we reach the Tyrant fight at the Lab.
My girl Jill plays the piano and breaks bad?! Can she get any more awesome?! ♡ (˘▽˘>ԅ
The journey to the Labs wasn't easy though, as I had to complete the Courtyard and Residence sections, which despite both being out of the creepy mansion still had me on edge. xD
As much as I love Barry, him leaving me to deal with Lisa Trevor on my own in the Tunnels made me go "how could you?!" just like Jill. xD (while I'm aware his family was being threatened it was still a real "why Barry why" moment)
Barry I'm still pissed you ditched me at the elevator. Also the fact you called me a sandwich.
We eventually make it to the Labs though, and I absolutely didn't mind using my Magnum rounds on the boiler room Chimeras if it meant peace of mind with transporting the nitro compound fuel capsule later. xD Wouldn't want to be Jill popcorn!! xD
It's also here that I meet up again with Chris, who's been in this dingy cell for how long, poor guy. :(
I also regroup with Barry, who has the gall to ask me to wait up for him so I play a little prank in going up the elevator without him as revenge. >:) (in reality it was me trying to talk to him and accidentally going up lol)
"Oh? You're approaching me?"
We confront Wesker and the Tyrant, and thanks to Jill having the OP Grenade Launcher, take the Tyrant out in a few shots. Wesker is seemingly knocked out, and Barry and I make our escape out of the Labs with Chris as the self-destruct mechanism has activated.
It's at the Helipad that we have one last fight with the Tyrant and I've never pressed YES. YES. YES. (I AM!) so fast. xD
After defeating the Tyrant, we make our escape and watch as Spencer Mansion blows up.
Chris aurafarming real hard in this shot. (Queen Jill deserves a good rest after everything :3)
Glad to see Barry made it out too...but at this point I kept wondering...where is Rebecca??
It turns out that the companion is quite literally character campaign-exclusive (so Chris' best ending will only show Chris, Jill and Rebecca), though canonically Chris, Jill, Barry, and Rebecca all make it out of Spencer Mansion alive.
I am by no means a skilled player when it comes to Resident Evil, but I feel going through the games methodically is more my speed, as it's the way I enjoy games the most! Also because I want to minimize my heart exploding lol
I highly recommend RE1 REmake, as it's really a timeless game, and while I never replay games, the fact that a game from more than 20 years ago is still fun and often talked about even today is a testament to its status as a classic.
I died a few times, but this simple statement gave me that drive to keep pressing on anyway.
Bonus screenshots and silly captions because I like to think I'm funny 🤨:
You're saying sorry for calling me a sandwich, right? RIGHT?!
Even Crimson Heads are POWERLESS against the almighty furniture!! >:)
"Barry, be straight with me. Burgers or sandwiches?"
"Actually...hotdogs, Jill."
"But isn't a hotdog a sandwich?"
"That's like asking if soup is a drink."
When we get out of here, I should teach Chris how to play the piano...I'm sure he'll put that skill to good use.
It looks like Barry left me a note:
"3 slices of bacon, 3 leaves of lettuce, 6 slices of tomato, two slices of bread...huh?"
Barry: "I hope Jill got my note." *ruffles pockets*
