What was that?

I’m (sorry, was) a fan of ‘The good place’, up to now. The first season was so refreshing and original. A joy to watch. The second season was not up to the same level of entertainment. But no problem, there would be a third season and the writers would do it better (no doubt) and make up for the flaws in the second season. But, they didn’t. They simply killed the show. Why? It has become a non-entertaining, boring, crappy show that doesn’t deserve to be shown.

So, good bye Good Place. Don’t come back and haunt me in my dreams.

I love horror movies but I’ve never been so horrified as after seeing this movie beacause it’s all real and it concerns your and my life. What is the film about? Well, it’s about a few products from the medical device industry that doctors put in your body knowing that there is a good chance that they can ruin your life for the rest of your days. So watch this movie and make your own conclusions whether or not (in case you need them) you’re going to trust these companies, hospitals and doctors or try some older solution that has its positive and negative sides in the past.

Event Horizon is a 1997 science fiction horror film directed by Paul W. S. Anderson and written by Philip Eisner. It stars Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, Kathleen Quinlan and Joely Richardson. Set in 2047, it follows a crew of astronauts sent on a rescue mission after a missing spaceship, the Event Horizon, spontaneously appears in orbit around Neptune. Searching the ship for signs of life, the rescue crew learns that the Event Horizon was responsible for testing an experimental engine that opened a rift in the space time continuum, allowing a hostile entity on board the ship.

Upon release, the film was a commercial and critical failure, in the years since, the film has slowly built a cult following and is often referenced and parodied in other works of popular culture.

I watched this film last night and although it’s not the greatest movie of its kind, it has everything a science fiction and horror film needs. It’s great entertainment especially for those viewers that like these types of films.

Here Netflix shows that older movies deserve a larger place in the catalogue but also that they have to consider to invest more in ‘the good past’ than in ‘the mediocre original Netflix movies today’.

How It Ends is an American action disaster thriller film directed by David M. Rosenthal and written by Brooks McLaren. The film stars Theo James, Forest Whitaker, Kat Graham, and Mark O'Brien.

The film was released on July 13, 2018 by Netflix.

I simply don’t understand how it is possible that Netflix orders movies that time after time are between crappy and simply no good. What is wrong with them? I would suggest to use their money for loading movies that have proven their quality in theatres or even in film history and not to make any exclusive Netflix movie crap.

Perhaps you wonder why I still gave 2 stars, well not for the story, not for the acting, not for the director but for the amazing 4K images which I only see on Netflix.

We just started watching the second season of Anne with an E on Netflix because this a real gem, a real feel-good series among all the zombie, killing and police series.

Anne (titled Anne with an E for international distribution on Netflix) is a Canadian drama television series based on the 1908 novel Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, and adapted by Emmy Award-winning writer and producer Moira Walley-Beckett. It airs on CBC in Canada, and elsewhere in the world it is available for streaming on Netflix. Season 2 premiered on Netflix on July 6, 2018.

In the late 19th century, brother and sister Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, both in their old age, decide to take on an orphan boy to help out around their ancestral farm of Green Gables, on the outskirts of the town of Avonlea, on Prince Edward Island. When Matthew goes to pick the child up at the railway station, he finds not a boy, but a high-spirited and talkative girl, Anne Shirley. At first, the Cuthberts are inclined to send her back, particularly after Marilla's brooch goes missing, and Anne, in despair, runs away. Reconciled and settled in her new home and school, Anne once again displays boundless enthusiasm which is nevertheless easily turned into despair when things go wrong, which they often do. Slowly, her ebullient nature wins over those around her. 

From her red pigtails to the cornflower seas, everything looks, feels and simply is right in Anne With An E, the exquisite new adaptation by Breaking Bad writer Moira Walley-Beckett  (The Guardian).

A darker, moodier adaptation of the Victorian young-adult novel brings a stark tragedy to the story of imaginative orphan Anne Shirley (Variety).

Buck Danny is a Franco-Belgian comics series about a military flying ace and his two sidekicks serving (depending on the plots) in the United States Navy or the United States Air Force. The series is noted for its realism both in the drawings and the descriptions of air force procedures as part of the storyline. In particular the aircraft depicted are extremely accurate. Mixing historical references with fiction, Buck Danny is one of the most important 'classic' Franco-Belgian comic strips. Starting in 1947, the first albums were set against the backdrop of World War II, but from 1954 onwards, the series started to play in 'the present' and has so ever since. Like this, the series reads as a chronology of military aviation as well as the events that were catching people's imagination at the time of publishing, ranging from the Korean war, the cold war, UFO's international terrorism and drug running, the space race, rogue atomic bombs, the collapse of the Soviet bloc and recently the conflicts in Sarajevo and Afghanistan.

Blood Feast is a 1963 American horror splatter film composed, shot and directed by Herschell Gordon Lewis and starring Mal Arnold, William Arnold, Connie Mason and Lyn Bolton. The plot focuses on a psychopathic food caterer named Fuad Ramses (Arnold) who kills women so that he can include their body parts in his meals and perform sacrifices to his "Egyptian goddess" Ishtar. It is considered the first splatter film, and is notable for its groundbreaking depictions of on-screen gore. It was highly successful, grossing $4 million against its minuscule $24,500 budget.

Herschell Gordon Lewis (June 15, 1926 – September 26, 2016) was an American filmmaker, best known for creating the "splatter" subgenre of horror films. He is often called the "Godfather of Gore" (a title also given to Lucio Fulci), though his film career included works in a range of exploitation film genres including juvenile delinquent films, nudie-cuties, two children's films and at least one rural comedy. On Lewis' career, AllMovie wrote: "With his better-known gore films, Herschell Gordon Lewis was a pioneer, going farther than anyone else dared, probing the depths of disgust and discomfort onscreen with more bad taste and imagination than anyone of his era."

Charlie Chan is a fictional character created by Earl Derr Biggers. Biggers loosely based Chan on Honolulu, Hawaii, detective Chang Apana, and conceived of the benevolent and heroic Chan as an alternative to Yellow Peril stereotypes and villains like Fu Manchu. Chan is a detective for the Honolulu police, though many stories feature Chan traveling the world as he investigates mysteries and solves crimes.

Many films were made with Warner Oland and later Sidney Toler (both white actors) as Charlie Chan.

The character of Charlie Chan has been the subject of controversy. Some find the character to be a positive role model, while others argue that Chan is an offensive stereotype.

Warner Oland (October 3, 1879 – August 6, 1938) was a Swedish-American actor most remembered for playing several Chinese and Chinese-American characters: the Honolulu Police detective, Lieutenant Charlie Chan; Dr. Fu Manchu; and Henry Chang in Shanghai Express. His family emigrated to the United States when he was 13. He pursued a film career that would include time on Broadway and dozens of film appearances, including 16 Charlie Chan films.

Alix, or The Adventures of Alix, is a Franco-Belgian comics series drawn in the ligne claire style by Jacques Martin. The stories revolve around a young Gallo-Roman man named Alix in the late Roman Republic. Although the series is renowned for its historical accuracy and stunning set detail, the hero has been known to wander into anachronistic situations up to two centuries out of his era. The stories unfold throughout the reaches of the Roman world, including the city of Rome, Gaul, the German frontier, Mesopotamia, Africa and Asia Minor. One voyage goes as far as China. 

Blondin et Cirage (Blondin and Cirage, literally Blondy and Shoe polish) is a Belgian humoristic adventure comic strip by Jijé created in 1939 for the Catholic children's magazine Petits Belges.[1] The comic was also published in its Flemish counterpart Zonneland, initially under the name Wietje en Krol, later as Blondie en Blinkie. It stars two boys, Blondin – who is white – and Cirage – who is black. 

Blondin et Cirage made their debut in the 29th issue of Petits Belges in 1939. They had three adventures during World War II, with Cirage being absent in the last one due to the racial policies of the Nazi occupation. After World War II they reappeared in Spirou where their adventures ran from 1947 until 1963.

In 1998 the characters were commemorated as a comic book wall painting designed by Georgios Oreopoulos et Daniel Vandegeerde, part of the Brussels' Comic Book Route. It can be visited in the Rue Capucine/Capucijnstraat in Brussels.
