saw a TL for this that confused me. 実力派 (lit. true strength faction) means being talented/highly skilled, often in an understated way (as opposed to it being all for show/surface-level appeal)

また、ドラムのMURASAKI氏とごく親しいらしい関係筋の情報による(...)彼が行きつけのバーのマスターに 「可能性はあるといえばあるし、ないといえばない。やるときはやるし、やらないときはやらないだろう」 というような話をしているところを、聞いた人がいたりいなかったりするようです。

A source very close to Murasaki, the drummer, reported that he seemingly told(...)the owner of a bar he frequents: "If I were to say it's possible, then it's possible, and if not, then it's not. If we do it, we do it, and if we don't, we don't." It seems that some people may or may not have heard him say this.
