(In honor of the new movie I have yet to see I really wanted to write zuko x fem reader!also sorry bad grammar im to lazy to proofread..)
Fluff..(maybe a little angst).
You and Zuko had been in a arranged marriage for a few years now you had never been exactly close the day of your wedding day was dreaded for you both mixed cultures along with mixed families.I Mean don't get yourself wrong you found him attractive but you didn't want to marry.
You had now been married for about two years,You being of noble lineage you knew how to run things you moved through days like a zombie on autopilot you did work organized galas talked to prisoners managed peace treaties and trade!I Mean it was a lot but not as much as zuko he was constantly busy good for you tho you didn't have to see him often Wich was always akward for you two just akward dinners occasionally and occasionally "marital duties" when the council bothered him about a heir.
It had been a very long day you had been dealing with trade routes all day the advisors where angry and constantly calling you incompetent you where over it. All you wanted was to be laying in your bed but even while resting you had things on your mind how your fmsily hasn't tried to contact you since the marriage ceremony two years ago or how you never see your husband or even how lots of the fire nation people didn't respect you as there fire lady or even the fact you haven't conceived a heir yet. You couldn't catch a break....
You where sitting at your desk in your study exhausted reading and signing papers you where so exhausted you decided to take a walk standing form your desk organizing a few paper before leaving to walk the gardens.
Walking always cleared your head it just helped,the slight breeze you felt the sense of calmness the idea that the only task ahead was to put one foot in front of another it was just nice.as you turned a corner in the corridor you heard whispering from some of zukos advisors
"She can't even produce a heir what is she worth?"one advisor muttered
"I believe our firelord should find a kind woman from the fire nation and leave that bewitchful woman..."another chimmed in
"She's not even a remarkable beauty I believe there marriage won't make it past five years.."the first advisor snickered
"Maybe our firelord should take in concubines"another remarked
You where used to hurtful things but by you and your husbands closest advisors hit closer to home then you thought it would..your once peaceful walk now turned into a whirlwind of emotions anger ,sadness maybe even..longing..?
You weren't exactly noticed bakc in the earth kingdom you where a Nobel but very overshadowed by your more beautiful sisters or your much more intelligent brothers..all you were was a extra peice tot he puzzle that your family was just itching to get rid of..the words fo the advisors hurt before you knew it tears where welding in your eyes and you where quickly pacing away from the advisors they all turned your direction clearly worried about you hearing them.you paced yourself quickly your vision blurring you pace quick and unpredicted you where staring at the floor trying not to cry anymore then you already where you where so focused on the nasty words of others you didn't notice your tired husband leaving His study.zuko was very focused on shutting his study door he didn't even see you rushing his way.
Wiping your eyes sniflfing you noticed zuko last minute but it was to late you fell into him being trained he caught you but stripped over his own feet stumbling back before stabilizing you,"hey you ok-..hey (name) what's wrong..?did I hurt you?.."he asked nervously
You sniffled rubbing your eyes your makeup slightly running"no .no you didn't hurt me I'm ok JSUT tired.."
"I can tell your lying we may not be close but I'm still your husband."he spoke quietly holding you by your shoulders his grip was the only thing keeping you from spiraling
"Listen I..I uhm I know it's hard to talk to me..but I'm here why don't we go sit by the turtle duck pond ok?I have some free time..you don't have to talk maybe you can just calm down ok?"he guides you to the gardens he spoke so softly unlike the akward cold voice you usually heard his hand layed resting on your lower mid back gently but also nervously like he was afraid to hurt you his other hand holding your arm to guide you it had taken only a few minutes to reach the pond but it felt like a eternity of quiet steps and gentle reminders from zuko that he was there by slight swueeezes of the hand or waist.he helped you sit guiding you to a stone bench by the pond on the hill
"So what's wrong?I mean you don't have to tell me you know but I'm your husband?not that you have to talk to me become your husband but uhm.."he fumbled over his words before shouting HSI mouth sighs face palming
"Sorry I'm just not good with words.."he muttered
"It's ok..I-.....I'm just upset it's really dumb..."you sighed drying your eyes the water running and the turtle ducks quacking was already claming you
"I don't care if it's dumb or not I still wanna know.."he's smiled his words so soft
"Well..some people where being mean..listen I know we aren't children it shouldn't have gotten to me but..it was just so crude and horrible..I-...it just got to me"
"Hey jsut because your the fire lady doesn't Mena you don't have emotions..8 have emotions..lots of them hm."he snickered a bit "but it doesn't make us childish..now what where they saying?"
His words where son gentle so kind it almost made you believe you where a actual loving married couple" about how you should replace me and I'm nothing remarkable.."you muttered you where confused on your own words you didn't notice zukos brow furrow
"You realize none of THOES things are true correct..?"he mumbled
"None of theos things are true."he said louder griping your hands looking into your eyes
"You are the most remarkable beautiful stunning woman I know your smart your kind!your understanding!you are so kind to people!even ones who are cruel to you I love the way your smile makes everyone feel warm inside including me I love when you enter the room everyone stops and is jaw dropped by your beauty.."he spoke
"What are you saying zuko..?"
He got down on his knees infront of you griping your hands and your dress looking up at you strands of his hat falling on his face his eyes scanned yours so quickly "(name) you have been the love of my life since we married..I have only been able to stay away form you because I was afraid you dint feel the same..but every time we are with eachother my heart flutters and all I want is you (name) I don't love you I need you (name)..whe people say thes horrible things about you my blood boils..because you are so perfect in my eyes( name) please..just return my love...."
You where shocked the man you thought hated your guts was actually madly in love with you how ironic..your eyes where wide your hands weak in HSI grip as you looked down at him his eyes where needy his large hands gripping yours with such bed but not hurting you."Zuko...I love you to.."you muttered
Zukos eyes lit up he hugged into your stomach kissing your hands
"Thank you (name) I will make you the happiest woman ever..I'll make up for all the mistreatment youve had to deal with I love you.."
(Sorry it was so short I started thsi at like 2am..and I kinda got lazy so sorry the end was rushed!)
