My whole thesis for tedtrent is something I've called the 'one pint and a conversation theory' and it basically posits that Ted and Trent at this point in the story are perpetually only ever 'one pint and a conversation' away from getting together.
We know Trent is gay, probably in some kind of love with Ted and we know Ted is searching for connection. What we don't know is if the other is aware of any of this . At this point in the season they are both assumed single and honestly as long as they are both uncuffed and vaguely in the same country at the end of the season I think we've got a good case for eternally 'one pint and a conversation away from canon' tedtrent and I'm so incredibly okay with that. The show was never going to become a gay romcom in its final season but it's given us the ideal groundwork for a relationship between these two men and even if they don't go there I'm choosing to believe it naturally happens post series if they just sat down and talked
"through thousands of imperceptible moments, all leading to their inevitable conclusion..."
