Family Parent one:  Theodore Van der Beek the Second Relationship with them: Strained.  Theodore was overjoyed to have a son come into the world, but Teddy was not exactly the son that he asked for.  He was always too soft, too passive, too timid, and after a while, Theodore stopped trying and started ignoring him all together, unless they were out and at a social function.  He wants more for Teddy than Teddy wants for himself, and Teddy can’t understand why he doesn’t just want him to be happy. Parent two: Amelia Corinne Van der Beek (nee Bamford) Relationship with them: Relatively good.  Teddy knows that his mother loves him, but there’s a part of him that feels like he can never live up to her expectations.  He doesn’t get to see her much, as she’s always busy with her work, and when he does, he feels like he has to put on a show of the perfect nuclear family.  No matter what, he feels like he will never quite be good enough.
