Day III @ Lenovo
Good afternoon everyone!
It's been an absolutely unreal day!
This morning, right off of the bat, we met with Human Resources representatives. These people were incredibly bright and honest. They say the truth hurts, but it's also the perfect motivator. The most important lesson they offered was to showcase your experience in the light most applicable to the job you're applying for. Employers want to see right away why YOU'RE the right fit -- and they only take 10 seconds the first time around to decide.
Then we presented our Marketing campaign! It was fairly nerve-racking until we actually started. There were about 9 in the audience including the Woo Agents. Regardless, we found our rhythm and let it flow. I have attached the powerpoint, so please check it out.
I just want to give a shout out to Adam for all of the filming and time he committed to us. He's done a fantastic job. Please check out his work and contact him for any videography - Blueberry Fusion
After lunch we had the exclusive opportunity to shadow an employee for a few hours!!! I was fortunate enough to be placed in the Imaging Center. This place was really cool and the employee I shadowed was brilliant. He is exactly the kind of person I want to become - job wise.
He has anywhere from 15-65 different projects at one time with many many clients and works on almost every ThinkPad system (product). Imaging is really the way your computer looks when you buy it and turn it on the for the first time. There are certain prompts to pick your time zone and language, or to set up your wireless. These are all decided and then built (by the imaging department) and sent to manufactures to have preloaded onto all of the machines before the client (company) gets them. This is much cheaper and faster than the company personally loading the image of each computer!!
It was really cool to shadow a Software Engineer Developer and realize that some people play such an integral role in the efficiency and effectiveness of a computer even BEFORE the box is opened.
It's been an incredible experience that I'm sure to miss here in Raleigh (Morrisville), NC.
Off to Los Angeles in the morning.
Later ya'll (as they say down here!)
Matt
