the blue bunny "rich" commercial really pisses me off . . .
have you seen the commercial for blue bunny's red velvet ice cream with the lady on the yacht? Â she and the ice cream are snootily (might have made that word up) reveling in their richness.
in case you haven't seen it, here ya go -Â http://vimeo.com/23368774
dear blue bunny:
are you aware of what the rest of the world is going through right now? it's 2012, not the early 80s. Â no one can relate to a rich lady on a yacht and her ice cream friend. Â very few people are "rich" these days. Â unemployment is incredibly high. Â people are being laid off daily. Â after being laid off last fall, i was unemployed for a few months before finally taking two part time jobs to try and cover the bills. Â like most americans, i bust my ass just to get by.
don't get me wrong, i know what you were attempting to do with this commercial - but it's ridiculous. Â no one can relate to the snobby rich lady on the yacht - and in turn, we can't relate to your ice cream. Â it doesn't make me want to buy your product. Â it makes me want to go out of my way to NOT buy your product.
your advertising department should have given a little more thought to how the average american would view this spot. Â i'm glad the ice cream and the lady "love being rich". Â good for them. Â in my freezer, it'll be mayfield, edy's, blue bell or purity. Â the rich lady can eat the blue bunny.
