Every summer, while Stan would teach Mabel how to scam people, Ford and Dipper would do what they called "Ford's summer school", where they'd investigate all kinds of things. One summer night, they both sit in Ford's lab. Ford is looking at some alien goo through a microscope while Dipper is once again brooding over the diaries, when suddenly the boy breaks the silence: "Gruncle Ford, can I ask you something?" The boy exhales deeply, then looks the old man straight in the eye: "when writing about the gremgoblin, why, pray tell, did you write 'USE WATER only as a last resort as water makes him much scarier'? Who writes sentences like that??"
