This happened today. A few installations in the Versalle’s sculpture garden. These pieces were my absolute obsession for a time. My sense of humor is actually allowed when I do these- so - like there’s a mini-skeleton taking his tree for a walk- a organization bird- normally made from paper- here is in metal- chained from the tree. Much of the metal was donated by a client- he had been diagnosed with ALS- the condition took his career from him. Pounds and boxes of interesting gears and bits. Things now unwanted- I wanted to give them a second life- another chance to be important. Those boxes became almost an analogy of people- of a person- maybe even of me. But it wasn’t just about me- it was about once being useful and wanted- then outcast- outside of its normal place in the universe- it’s destiny now uncertain. Many thanks to Jon, Judy and Mike, Chris and Glen, Larry and others- for helping me follow my obsessions- Most of these wound up at the recycled art in the park show- portage public library, and the gallery in Vicksburg. Thank you to Judy and Mike for giving them a temporary home. The huge bird is in the mountains somewhere - Colorado i think. #tattoosbyraven #recycledart #weldingislife #artislife
