We Don't Need to Be Stirred Anymore
I've been thinking a lot lately, not just about politics, but about people. About power. About truth. And about how exhausted we all seem to be.
The world is loud right now, especially in America. Every side is convinced the other is lying, corrupt, or dangerous. Politicians perform. Media amplifies. Social platforms reward outrage. And somehow, ordinary people are expected to pick a side and stay angry enough to defend it.
But here's what I believe:
Stirred people are easier to mobilize than healed people—and that explains a lot about the world we're living in.
That truth doesn't just apply to politics.
It applies everywhere.
The lie of "trickle down":
We've been sold the idea, economically, spiritually, and culturally, that if you empower the top, the benefits will naturally flow down. That if the "head" is strong, the body will thrive.
On paper, it sounds reasonable. Even moral.
But lived experience tells a different story.
What often trickles down isn't nourishment, it's pressure. Scraps. Anxiety. Being told to wait longer, work harder, and be grateful for less. When people at the bottom of the food chain keep hearing promises while watching wealth, power, and insulation collect at the top, something breaks.
Trust erodes. Cynicism grows.
And then—almost on cue—someone comes along willing to stir the pot.
Instigators thrive where healing is absent:
Modern leadership often isn't about service. It's about stimulation.
Fear, outrage, grievance, tribal loyalty.
Stirred people don't pause to ask better questions. They don't listen well. They don't notice when they're being used. They react. They defend. They attack. And all of that energy—emotional, financial, spiritual—flows upward.
Healed people behave differently.
They're harder to manipulate. They don't need villains to feel whole. They don't confuse volume with truth. They don't need to win every argument to know who they are.
That makes them inconvenient. Counseling taught me something politics never did:
Over the last couple of years, I've done some hard work. Therapy. Reflection. Facing things I avoided for decades. It wasn't easy. It was painful at times, disorienting, humbling.
But on this side of it, I'm grateful. Because healing didn't make me apathetic—it made me less exploitable.
Less reactive.
Less tribal.
Less impressed by certainty without compassion.
And I've realized something unsettling.
A lot of systems—political, religious, economic—don't actually know what to do with people who are becoming whole. They depend on wounds that stay open.
This isn't about left or right:
This isn't a call to disengage, and it isn't an endorsement of any party. It's a refusal to be reduced.
I don't believe all conservatives are lying.
I don't believe all liberals are lying.
I do believe unchecked power corrupts.
I do believe staying too long in authority rewires people.
I do believe too many leaders care more about staying relevant than staying accountable.
And I believe this deeply: Ordinary people are better than the systems pretending to represent them.
A different kind of truth:
The truth I'm interested in now isn't the kind that stirs crowds—it's the kind that steadies souls. The kind that says you don't have to be angry to be engaged.
You don't have to be cruel to be honest.
You don't have to choose a tribe to choose integrity.
We don't need more instigators.
We need more people who have done their own work and refuse to pass their unhealed pain downstream.
That kind of truth won't go viral, but it might help someone breathe again.
And honestly, that feels like a better use of a voice~
