nimue mini cheat sheet!
part - fae. nimue is not truly a faerie, though she has heritage of such through her changeling grandfather. due to her power as a sorceress - and the fact she uses those powers to keep her countenance static throughout the years - many assume she is a faerie. nimue has never been in the habit of correcting assumptions that paint her as more powerful than she truly is.
found the child lancelot wandering in the woods after the death of his father. nimue is not the tenderest of beings, but even her heart is moved by the image of a lone, lost child, and so she took him under her wing. the boy was raised by her at the side of the lake, hidden from the terrors of the world that she could sense would be at his heels in the future.
is both the sword-bestower and the sorceress. the sword, an artifact held by her family for generations, was given to arthur upon the breaking of his sword. this is where she meets merlin for the first time.
already gifted with magic taught to her by her mother in small abode by the lake, nimue was eager to learn more from the talented mage merlin. that excitement soured as the man began pressing for more than nimue was willing to offer. she had hoped he would relent, but as she grew stronger and he grew bolder, nimue came to realize she would have to take matters into her own hands. the sorcerer was trapped behind the bark of a great tree and nimue was free to practice her magicks in peace.
remembering camelot - the sword given to the king and the place lancelot has gone - nimue realizes they are now without a magical advisor or court sorcerer. though she is not well-traveled, she makes the trip to camelot and offers her services, claiming to have heard of merlin’s vanishing and worrying about the safety of the kingdom. she pointedly does not disclose that she is the one who dispensed of merlin.
nimue tends to use the name vivianne while in camelot, though this can change depending on the thread/character.
