Moni and I don’t yet have the full skill set needed to make the games we want to make. We lack (at least) the skills to:
* Create male character designs.
* Create and write down world settings, plots, dialogues, etc.
* Create, paint, and animate 3D models.
* Do all the 3D programming necessary.
* Create logos, 2D menus, web site designs, etc.
* Compose BGMs, MEs, and SEs.
Noting that, we had to start working on some of those issues first. I’m still more of a technical person, and since I’m leading, I figured we should focus on 3D modelling and programming first.
To tackle that, I thought of creating a game of Sokoban in 3D. A typical game of Sokoban of course has no characters, no story, etc, but still manages to be a bit of fun, so I thought that was a good basis for a practical game creation study.
Moni and I have played with Blender for a couple days last month, and we’ve learned a lot of things. I’ve even recorded a silly screencast of one of my study sessions once:

This game of Sokoban is not meant to be a complete game; it’s really more of a practical study that will teach us a lot and produce some reusable code (such as math functions, model loading, text rendering, sound, etc).
Moni isn’t particularly excited about this Sokoban idea, so she’s trying to tackle our other skill set problems. She thought of creating a 2D visual novel so we can get our feet wet with game design proper. This is Mai, of her Moe Star Dream project:
She will be working on Moe Star Dream until the Sokoban 3D engine calls for some better 3D prototype models. Then, we’ll work together to do a very basic level design, model it, paint it, and put it in the game <3
