I seem to have been hit by the AO3 curse. And, since misery loves company, today my theme is fics in which someone is cursed.

Let's start with My Beautiful Crow (T) by @venturous. This story reads like a classic fairy tale (a form I love), in which bookbinder Aziraphale is visited by a mysterious crow. Can you guess who it might be?

Next up is The Nutter Curse: An Epistolary Romance (T) by @bohoteacher and @thinkinginscripts, with art by @maon25. While researching Agnes Nutter and her curse on the men of the Crowley family, academic Aziraphale writes to the last of the line. In this clever collaboration, Scripts wrote Crowley and Boho wrote Aziraphale.

In The Whole Truth (G) by Aethelflaed, Gabriel brings a book cursed by demons to Aziraphale for safekeeping. But the curse has Aziraphale unable to lie. Will Crowley be able to help him? Or will being forced to tell the truth change everything?

We Only Said Goodbye with Words, I Died A Hundred Times (R) by ras_elased has Crowley hit with a lust curse. If he has sex with Aziraphale, he'll die. The only thing that would save him was if he was truly loved. But he's a demon. No one could possibly love him, right?

This story is currently being released as a comic on Tumblr by @anotherwellkeptsecret.

May I also recommend my dragon AU WIP, since Crowley is cursed to feed off people's life essences in order to survive?

Thank goodness for search functions. Of course, if we didn't have searchable word processing tools, we wouldn't have social media to play the game, would we? Anyway, thanks for the tag @bellisima-actually-writes. My words are: resort, wear, agree, and look.

I searched several works to find these, and ran into trouble with the very first word:

Resort: I don't use this word in any form in any of my WIPs. I'll apply a bonus at the end.

Wear (from Walking Dogs After Midnight, now uploading on AO3):

Aziraphale: Yes. And the appropriate attire for this outing? Crowley: A harness and lead should do fine. Aziraphale: I meant what should I wear? Crowley: 😏

Agree (from untitled work in which Crowley and Aziraphale are married by an Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas) :

Crowley was in Las Vegas because his friend, Bee, was marrying an American. Since they were nonbinary, Bee decided they deserved a hen do, stag night, and whatever other gatherings they wanted to have. Fuck gender norms. Always up for a party, their friends agreed. 

Look: (from I Could Read You Like an Open Book)

“He’s gay and cute. It doesn’t hurt to ask.  “How do you know? On either count?” “I have eyes,” Nina replied, rolling hers. “He looks like the Doctor, the one who cries.”  “Well, Ncuti Gatwa is charming, but he’d be far too young for me.” “No, the quirky one.” “Matt Smith?”  “The other quirky one.”  “I believe it’s in the brief for playing the Doctor.” Nina glared at Aziraphale. “No, the one with the crooked nose—David Tennant."

Bonus: Shipping (from Augmented Reality)

“So, you’ve been reading smutty fan fiction.” Crowley noted the blush disappearing from sight under the tartan bow tie.  “It’s not smut. It’s an erotic explorations of the dynamics between different characters. I believe they call it ‘boating.'” “Shipping, angel.” Crowley took a deep breath. It was time to rip off the plaster.

Cottage:

“Time to save for something permanent. I’ve already put away most of my pension. I thought we could save up for a cottage in Sussex like we always talked about."

Ezra gave him a curious look, and followed him up to the window of one of the homes.

Drove (driven):

"I have courted pride and ignorance, and driven reason away, where either were concerned. Till this moment I never knew myself.”

“Crowley?” Aziraphale put on a brave face. “You are too generous to trifle with me. If your feelings are still what they were when you confessed to me before I went to Heaven, tell me so at once.”

Grew (grown):

"From the day I saw you bring the stars into being, from the day you helped me save Job’s children or my books from the church, every day my love for you has grown. I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun.”

And, with that Crowley headed down the stairs. He could feel something following him, but he ignored the sensation as he headed straight for that room.

He went back to his bedroom. He was tempted to neaten out the bed, as he usually did, before he stopped himself. The ghost seemed like someone who liked things a particular way . . . what better way to annoy him than to mess with his stuff?

Stars

Crowley curled up as far as his shackles would allow. He was shivering so hard his teeth rattled together, but he was sure that it was not solely due to the frigid wind passing over the exposed cliff. Above him, the stars twinkled, indifferent to the starving man below them.

Magic

“Then, what are you going to do?”

“Free you, of course.”

“How are you going to do that?”

“I could use my claws or my teeth, but I think it would be safer for you to use a drop of magic.”

Monsters and Myths Collab WIP Game: Round 1!

Let's do a little teaser game! For this round, we are using the word MYTH. Share a sentence or short excerpt (approximately 25 word max per letter) from your collab WIP that begins with each letter: M-Y-T-H

Here is a snippet from my WIP, A Gleam of Water Darkly, a pirate AU featuring water mythologies.

M: “My apologies, sir. I’ve not introduced myself. Mr. Aziraphale Fellsworth, at your service.”

Y: “You only need two minutes, Capitaine? My heart is sad for you. Truly. I keep my women happy by going all night long.”

T: The absolute gall of the man to play the gentle nurse, to look at him with those soft, concerned eyes, after abducting him at gunpoint.

H: His coat was a deep, rich red matching the fiery hue of his hair. Aziraphale tried very hard not to admire how well it looked on him. He failed.

M: “Mmm-hmm,” she said, cheeks turning pink.

Y: "You're quite the gold daddy and I can keep us protected."

T: The waiter set down a tray of oysters, and quickly left the table.

H: He hesitated for a moment, then squared his shoulders. He had a mission to complete

Snake in the City

M: Movement from the bag inside the Tupperware caught his attention and he sighed in relief.

Y: “You’ll have to make sure that the wound remains clean, and that means carefully cleaning and disinfecting the wound regularly. Otherwise, you run the risk of infection,” Dr Device said.

T: The snake slithered around the terrarium, giving everything a look that Aziraphale would have called unimpressed if the snake had been human.
