Daniela Patiño 1997 - 2019 Daniela was a bright, beautiful, ambitious and fearless young woman from Colombia whose friends and family loved her deeply. She was conned and trafficked into the prostitution industry in Central America. Daniela was amazingly able to escape her captors in Guatemala and flee to Mexico, waiting there desperately trying to get back to Colombia. But traffickers caught up with her and murdered Daniela in 2019 here in Playa del Carmen. We unveiled her mural on day of the dead, and remembered other victims of Feminicide too. The global sex industry is the most dangerous and exploitative industry (for humans) in the world, and everyday millions of women pay with their health, happiness and ultimately their lives for men’s pleasure and men’s profit.
