A Ted/Rebecca fic update in 2026? What is this, 2023? Any whoozils. This fic is finally complete even though I forgot how to write 🥳
Summary:
In her third year as owner, Rebecca Welton is taking a break from dating and throwing herself into the club. Meanwhile, Ted returns from Kansas with an eye toward the future, one that includes dipping his toe back in the dating pool.
Chapter 9 Excerpt:
It was a bittersweet smile, but she was happy for them. Really. If anything, this was inspiring. Thirty years together. A fucking miracle. They got older with each photo, but their smiles always stayed the same. Whether they were looking at each other or the camera they just looked. . . happy. Rebecca downed the rest of her champagne and an attentive waiter swooped in and exchanged her empty glass for a fresh one. She was about to down the new glass when she spotted a familiar pink tie in the crowd. It was Ted wearing the same tailored navy blue suit he wore to the charity fundraiser his first year with the team. He and Roy were standing to the side of the dance floor with their drinks. They watched the dance floor, Ted in amusement and Roy with raised brows, judging them all. Her heart skipped as Ted smiled at something Roy said and she wondered where his date was. Probably the bathroom or something. Fixing her makeup and adjusting a beautiful but tasteful dress that showed the just right amount of cleavage. Just then, Ted glanced around the room as if he were looking for someone.
