She stifles a chuckle seeing the haunter drag the trainer by his collar, the young boy obviously struggling to stop his haunter from doing so. It reminds Hilda of her own scrafty– the boy REFUSES to let Hilda walk away from an opportunity.
She feels bad about scaring him like that. He is, just a kid, after all. Ludwig fixes his posture to look better down at the young lad, fixing his hat and ( discreetly ) putting stray of hairs back into the hat, putting her hands back into her jacket. Cinderella the scrobunny hides behind Hilda’s legs, peering over at the haunter with a certain determined look in her eyes. He’s clearly nervous– Hilda is gonna do her best to not freak the poor kid out. Hilda clears her throat, pounding her chest with one hand to get whatever filter is in the way, putting it back in her pocket and proceeds to answer the young boys question.
“Yeah !” She manages to garner up a smile to shoot at the shorter boys way. “I”m player 222, right here on my jacket.” A tug at her jacket.
“Are you also challenging the gyms ? Ion’ see a number anywhere on you.”
the young gym leader still felt rather freaked out . sure, the mystery challenger seemed nice enough, but ... well, being nervous around people was just how he was . hearing the challenger clear his throat made Allister flinch and take a single step back, head lowering meekly .
Allister craned his neck to see the number, finding it was indeed printed on the challenger’s jacket . knowing that he was truly a gym challenger and not some stranger did bring Allister a bit of comfort . 222 ... maybe a simple number, but he could see the appeal . Allister tried not to acknowledge the little scorbunny - fire types were usually a little bit rambunctious for his tastes, and he didn’t want the pokemon to start setting anything ablaze .
“ challenging the . . . ? “ a beat of silence . “ oh ! o - oh, no . . . you see, I’m - I’m the ghost-type gym leader . you’re going to be battling me today . “ Allister clarified .
the mistake was common, Allister definitely did not look old enough to have a gym under his command . he didn’t really mind at this point, if anything, it was a compliment . he liked knowing that he was an unexpected force in the gym leader community . to prove his point, Allister snagged a pokeball from his hip attachments . the ball opened up with a burst of light, and out stepped Gengar, Allister’s well-known ace. Gengar appeared behind his trainer, big toothy grin on his face .
