forget about the compelling aspects of beverly/jean-luc slowburning for literal decades and discovering that they were meant to end up together in the end after they’ve both seen each other at their best and their worst; i want to see forced bonding trips where picard and wesley go fishing or camping or picard tries to teach wesley about wine

it’s so embarrassing to watch tos for the first time and be like, whoa !! 👀spock and kirk❓is anyone else kinda getting 😏some vibes 😳 as if they aren’t the founding fathers. as if they didn’t build the yaoi dimension with their bare hands. as if the current cathedrals we call home aren’t predicated upon their humble shadow puppets on the walls of plato’s fucking cave, and as if our ancestors were fools to fall for those puppets instead of geniuses, innovators, and prophets ????

this is how i felt when i was like woah this show is so fanfic-eque sometimes. yeah man they invented modern fandom. this is to be expected.

Ngl wat hing tos was an experience realising that some popular fanfic tropes are just straight up lifted from the episode plots. Fuck or die? Sex pollen? That's literally there on the screen just in 60s TV version of it and yet we're still writing it

EVERY fucking stupid liberals university in the star trek future their fucking student sketch comedy group OF COURSE has at least one Vulcan and it's like their thing where they're like "haha I bet you wouldn't expect a VULCAN in an IMPROV group!!!!!" as if this hasn't become such a fucking tired cliche like literally since 2063 every fucking comedy show has the token Vulcan to be the straight man. you're doing nothing. call me when you guys make an effort to actually include tellarites in the writing room instead of confining them to punch lines. and to be honest with you guys your Vulcan isn't even that good. his performance was highly derivative of T'min's work in the big bang theory 3 (the third big bang yheory. they make a lot of sitcom sequels in the future)

The last thing you said cannot be true because star trek is supposed to be a utopian future.

star trek is very demonstrably not a utopian future it's a broken society playing at paradise. we see hints of this earlier in the post when I mention university improv comedy groups
