idk if this is controversial or not, but I really like when non-professional writing like fic has hints of author bleedthrough when it comes to like, what different people assume is common knowledge. Like sometimes I’ll be reading a fic and it’ll just be obvious that the person writing it is either obsessed with medicine or has been to medical school, because they’ll use terms that are just a shade too technical without explaining them. It’s never the super specific stuff that they’d know other people are unaware of, it’s always the things that once you’ve known it for a while you forget it’s niche knowledge. It’s fun because as a fanfic reader it reminds me of how this is a fun hobby community, where everyone has their own thing going on outside of fandom. Everyone’s got their own specialties and they can’t help but write that into their work sometimes

Absolutely fascinating modern fantasy worldbuilding, gives Tim a diverging backstory where he wasn't Robin nor a Wayne but he still is so very much Tim Drake. Also has a very fun take on Janet Drake! We get urban fantasy society, some soul bonding, magic user + familar, plus some good ol' gotham chaos to round it all out. Tim and Jason's relationship builds up in a really organic feeling way, complete with plenty of fights and misunderstandings and secrets. Joker gets turbo dead on-page, idk if that counts for the death tag since he's not a main character? I clicked minor death warning just in case.

I'm going to do my best to participate! I always try to at least get one thing out even if it's small since there aren't enough dicktim fics out there in my opinion. Of course, we all know that small has a tendency to spiral into big when it comes to me so we'll see what happens. This year has been throwing sucker punch after sucker punch my way so send good vibes and maybe I can block enough of them to get something done 🖤💜

Six is a borderline crack fic about Tim defending Dick to the press when he's drunk and accidentally confessing his feelings to the public by an open marriage proposal. He becomes a meme over night with the line "that's a normal thought to have"
It's actually a really funny idea and I keep meaning to get back to it
(it's the fic I made this for bc the thought wouldn't leave my head)
Blurb:
Looking back on it, he won’t be able to tell anyone what he’s thinking when he opens his mouth. Maybe the simple truth is that he isn’t thinking at all. Either way, the words “Dick Grayson is husband material” come out and before he can fully comprehend that, the group as a whole is turning to stare at him, their discussion on which of the Wayne’s is the better spouse tapering off into surprise.
One of the girls recovers faster than the rest. She lifts her head in challenge and says, “What makes you say that?”
As is usual in this case, Tim’s mouth runs. As isn’t usual, instead of doing damage control, it digs a deeper hole instead.
“He’s kind and handsome and down to earth and not nearly as frivolous as you all seem to think. I really don’t understand why people don’t like him; doesn’t everyone want to marry Dick Grayson? That’s a normal thought to have.”
“He’s right,” someone admits; on further inspection Tim thinks it might be the daughter of Gotham Bank’s senior VP, “most little girls fall in love with him. He always makes sure to dance with all the children during the annual Wayne Charity Ball.”
Tim squints at the bottom of his glass. His vision is a little blurred around the edges; is that Vicki Vale at the edge of the group? Time to bail.
“I’m just going to—“ he makes a gesture towards the rest of the party. A finely manicured hand wraps around his wrist before he can disappear.
“Wait, aren’t you Tim Drake? Isn’t he your brother?”
“Bruce Wayne never adopted me,” comes out on autopilot.
“Do you really think he’s husband material?” There’s a skeptical eyebrow being pointed his way. “He gets around.”
Oh frack, that is Vicki Vale, recorder out and everything.
Get out of there, his mind screams.
His mouth says: “let’s just say that if he proposed I wouldn’t say no.”
