I use fucking XT2 because any time I try to get set up with another DAW it demands I "scan" my fucking plugins. This never works out. Ever. Something always makes it crash. Today its Podium crashing when it tries to scan my plugins and then gets to Density and BOOM. The little fucker crashes.

Does it pick up where it left off last time? Hah! No. I have to scan everything again. Except Density, which is now blacklisted. Even though I know the fucking thing works.

"But Turner!" I hear you say, "You probably just have many god dammed plugins! They're probably all synthedit freeware that all sound the same anyway!"

Wrong! I've sifted through tens of thousands of fucking plugins, and I've distilled things to the very best in freeware. HOWEVER the "core" directory of plugins which I asked Podium to scan has around 100 plugins, all but a few are commercial payware (that I paid for) except for a few freeware Bootsy, KarmaFX), and AudioDamage plugins.

Don't think I'm hating on Podium, cause I'm not. It's not just Podium. It's also fucking Ableton Live. God dammit people! VSTs are a known factor!! The progmatic solution, one you have a VST host is so FUCKING TRIVIAL. If you REALLY HAVE to pre-scan plugins (hint: you don't) you spawn a small, separate sandboxed process that does the scanning for you. This is not new. And then SAVE MY GOD DAMMED PLACE. Do not make me start over!

At least Podium keeps my VSTs in the same organized structure as the folders I created for them, unlike Reaper which makes me start fucking over.

VSTs are used A LOT. I figure if you're going to be a fucking company that purports to make a VST host you should probably figure out how to fucking load VSTs.

Alright, next one over the barrel is XT, I've been using EnergyXT since fucking I dunno way too god dammed long. 4 years or 5 or something. I started out with eXT 1 point whatever. Myself and most of the "community" that supported XT feels completely betrayed, lied to, and shat on. Where's our god dammed SMP motherfucker? What happened to fucking XT Core? You have a good fucking plan man, a GOOD fucking development plan. Minimum viable product, perfect, build a solid base, house upon the rockmass and all the shit. You had it, we were behind you, all of us back then. XT1 was nice, but its biggest glaring flaw was how the sequencer wanted to own all the dammed plugins you loaded inside it instead of putting them on the grid where they belonged. XT2's workflow was so much nicer than XT1, and it's UI was much more aesthetic.

But it was slower? More crash prone?? Broken automation for years now! Now we're stuck with two half finished apps. Awesome. Fuck you XT.

"Okay fuck this, I'm going to try Ableton." No good. Loading plugins is a pain in the ass. Between my job and trying to figure out how to get plugins to load without crashing the fucking thing I used up my trial period. Fuck you Ableton.

Podium. Don't make me scan all my plugins. And please don't show me 3 versions of every plugin. What the hell is that all about? Can I turn that off? Uhg.

I've run out of steam. I need a nap.

Anyway, I really do like Podium, I might switch to it. I'm playing with the free version right now and digging it overall, but still frustrated about the VST loading issues.If you're going to force me to do it, then please make sure it Just Works.
