Yknow, ive been watching through the pokemon anime, currently in the final seasons of diamond and pearl, and I realized- Pikachu's ability is static yet the anime rarely brings that fact up. The only time ive seen it brought up in diamond and pearl so far was in Ash and Volkners battle. There are probably a bunch of moments that completely went over my head, and ill hopefully see more as I move into black and white, but having already watched x&y through journeys a while ago, im wondering just how many battles could have taken a turn had static worked out for ash and Pikachu.

Hot take (i think), I liked when Jessie, James, and Meowth took on a more serious role in the beginning of pokemon black and white. It was nice getting to see how good they actually are at their job when they dont get tunnel vision over pikachu. It felt like a nice throw back to the very first episodes of pokemon where they were shown to be more mature.

Having just finished watching the Tobias vs. Ash battle, I genuinely teared up thinking how far he'd come to get to where he was in diamond and pearl. 🥺
