He feels bad when he forgets things, but everyone else is used to it and they don't mind. It's just how he is and they've accepted that

Little does Zoot know though, he writes everything down. He just forgets that he does, so it's a little counterproductive.

Anything he deems important gets written down, like birthdays, anniversaries, his friends likes and dislikes, etc.

It's become accepted by everyone that Zoot forgets to get gifts for his friends' birthdays or occasions, it doesn't upset anyone. However, there was one time one of them found a polaroid photo of a closet in the basement they never used, and curious, they all went down there to figure out why Zoot had thought it important enough to take a picture of to remind himself.

Inside were boxes with everyone's names on them full of gifts for them, each box unique to the individual. Zoot sees them and it clicks, "Oh yeah, I do get you guys gifts :D I put them in here and save them for your birthdays and then I forget I bought them." So they each had years and years worth of saved up presents to go through.

Now as a backup, whenever he gets something for someone and puts it in their box, he tells Nora so she'll remember and remind him when the day comes.

Nora also now has her own gift box, and when Zoot forgets about it, it's usually Floyd that reminds him then;

Zoot: Yeah, Happy Birthday, Nora :)

Floyd: Didn't you get her something?

Zoot: Did I?

Floyd: Yeah, you put in that closet, remember? In that box you store her gifts in?

Zoot: Oh that's smart, I gotta start doing that

Floyd: You do- ...Nora hold on, we'll be right back

It's been like three months since I became obsessed with The Muppets, especially The Electric Mayhem, so I finally started drawing them, of course, starting with our dear sax player, Zoot.
