Entitled Twats
Here’s an example of how not to behave when you’re attempting to commission a skilled (or any!) artist. Courtesy of an encounter on @arealscrog‘s DA.
[REDACTED] said the following: Are you open for commissions or requests?
ZoomSwish said the following: Yep, definitely open for commissions! What did you have in mind?
[REDACTED] said the following: well something like this: (Link to “The Bones Guy” pic) involving my 3 ocs
ZoomSwish said the following: So by that do you mean a color piece in that style? Off the top of my head I can quote you that it would be $15 per character, so $45 inked and colored with no background. Let me know if that works for you.
[REDACTED] said the following: sorry cant afford those prices
ZoomSwish said the following: That's cool. Have a good one!
This is fine. If the encounter had ended here, there would be no problem. But then...

….
[REDACTED] said the following:
to bad you cant do it for a lesser amount,
ZoomSwish said the following: Sorry, man. I have to stick to my pricing. A piece like that would take me at least five hours, and I can't really afford to work for less than minimum wage. Thanks for the interest, though! ;)
[REDACTED] said the following:
yeah to bad i only can afford people who do it for fun.
ZoomSwish said the following: Haha! Wish I could just do it for fun. I'd still have to charge what my work is worth, though.
[REDACTED] said the following:
if you say so.
Don't try to guilt artists into lowering their prices for you. That shit takes time and effort, even when done 'for fun'. You wouldn't go into a bakery and try to get a cake for less than the marked price. So don't do the same to artists. Being a passive-aggressive little douche about it isn't going to get you anywhere, either. Grow up.
