with all the people living out in the Zones so long who are familiar with the pop culture of the bygone day but are increasingly connected to the wilderness in which they dwell, coyotes are at the EXACT cultural midpoint between “things that make you think of Looney Tunes gags” and “symbols of power and cunning from the mists of native mythology” and that midpoint is exactly the tone that the Killjoys strike in everything they do
In addition coyotes have become a symbol of loyalty and love of all kinds from the romantic to the familial because they are pack-dwelling animals and (unlike wolves) mate for life, with the result that there’s a lot of coyote graffiti around the Zones and people selling badly-made beaded keychains that sort of look like coyotes for good luck
There’s that whole “they could definitely kill us and if we’re hungry we’d kill them but we have respect” thing, but also most people still remember Roadrunner so it’s also like [points at coyote] “let’s ask him if he’s got any anvils”
The Girl has a fantasy of one day finding an orphaned coyote cub and raising it as her own and none of the Killjoys can convince her it’s not a good idea
above these badlands (5/?)
growin’ up — greetings from asbury park, n.j. (bruce springsteen) // na na na — danger days (my chemical romance)
wait. is there a difference between a zone runner and a killjoy??? I thought they were the same thing??
it really just depends on how you want to use the words. everyone has their own interpretation which seems to vary depending on the person.
me, personally… on my account, i always use the term "zonerunner" to include everyone who lives in the desert (gangs, rebels, neutrals). everyone who runs around in the zones.
the term "killjoy" i use specifically for rebels in the desert, such as the fab four or show pony. all killjoys are zonerunners; however, not all zonerunners are killjoys.
but it really just depends on your preferences!
zonerunners replied to your post: not sure how i feel about resting praise for...
also it’s no guarantee of safety. like don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t trade being raised by lesbians for anything, but my mom’s ex-wife was definitely abusive (and also a cop so). her having a certain social identity didn’t make her any less abusive
definitely -- and that feels especially stark in the area of "pink cops" as though lgbtq police are somehow declawed versions of cishet police instead of equally violent upholders of state violence

Sonic and Knuckles teamed up for the first time to battle Robotnik in STC #38 back in 1994! Larson was after his revenge in Eternal Champions, Tails and the Flock took on Nutzan Bolt, and things weren't going so well for Chuck and Head!
