the zombies are back

hoping to send us running 

we shall fight instead

the weapons, prepared;

the resistance grows restless.

We hunt zed at dawn.

day one: some humans

tire of life. Handshakes of death

bring them to the horde. 

Loaned gun malfunctions 

Friend left defenseless and dies. 

Left Hoch heading east,

wielding Reason and Madness,

looking for trouble.

Found ten zombies there.

Three had noodles - one, a shield.

All hungry for brains.

They flanked and then charged

into a flurry of darts

but none made it through.

A second group came,

including a double tap;

two humans saved me

Ten minutes later,

'twas reloaded and ready

and came back for more

Two zeds quite quickly

tried to trap me; dart met face

stalemate; they backed off.

Then I snuck up and

ambushed the group from before -

got one! - then they ran.

Their route was short-lived;

I found myself cornered by

seven vengeful dead.

They set up a charge,

then came from two sides at once

as darts filled the air

The six fell quickly

(some got distressingly close)

but one waited back.

I'd used Reason first,

but for him I saved Madness.

more zombies than humans now

each trip more deadly

fog drops on campus

feels nice, but hides the zombies.
