LOVE & LEAVE ...
Be fake. Make her love you. And then, like you always do, leave. Let all your words slice through her soul, hope and remorse delivered at the same time. Cripple her. Let her beautiful eyes gaze at you with loathing; a bit for you, a lot for herself. After all, she trusted you. And let suicidal thoughts litter across the atmosphere. And in the end, put up your best innocent smile, that’s what she loved the most, and tell her you’re dismantling the U from the US. And you leave. But not just yet.
She wouldn’t be the first. Not at all. There will be more like her in future. But, like they say, live in the present. So live now. Stare into her eyes and remember the compliment she had delivered, “You have a cute smile that reflects honesty.” And remember, you’ve nothing special about them, you just have been told that you’ve a charming smile. Smile that could thaw glaciers. They say the sea is actually gloomy and that it merely reflects the hopeful sky above. So it is with you. And, so you let that smile spread one last time. And you let her eyes sink that in.
And in the end, you will tell her that you’re bored. That you find her friends more interesting. But, you just know that you can’t let go of her. Not yet. So you tell her to follow you. To call you every night and beg for you to return. To sort things out. But silence is all she can mutter. “Do you understand?” you’ll ask her. And she will nod slightly. No tears. Not until she is back on her bed. And, just like that, without a conclusion, you leave her. But, but, but, she will call you. Follow you. And, someday, make you realize what mistakes you’ve committed.
