Great-great-great-great Auntie Zerelda ("Mamaw") was the mother of Frank and Jesse James... my distant cousins. More importantly she is my link to witchcraft. I'm not a bloodline dependant witch, but there has been a small part of me that hoped to eventually find someone in my ancestors who practiced. She was reckless, ambitious, and loyal. A "reader of cards and practitioner of womens' workings" who attended séances with her son, Frank, in Kearney MO while he was still a young man. I'm searching for more personal accounts of her, as much of it is hearsay and (with infamous sons) much is rumor. Her grave is close and her home is not only still standing, but a historical site that has been restored with a great deal of original furnishings. Needless to say... being an energy and spirit worker myself... I will be going to visit Auntie Zerelda soon. ♡

Breaking down while she was on the road was bad enough, but Zee had luck bad enough to actually have her car crap out on her in the middle of the Strip, which was a total nightmare. She definitely wasn’t strong enough to push it herself to get it out of the street, and God knows she’d be lucky if a single soul stopped to help her. She’d called a tow truck already, but it being one of the most busy parts of the day, she knew it would be at least an hour before they were able to get to her. So, she popped the hood, getting out to inspect, clad in a pair of short, denim shorts and a plain white tee. She knew practically nothing about cars, but she knew that dark smoke coming out of the engine-area in thick clouds were never good. The waitress leaned over, placing both palms on the car as she examined the smoking heap. Utterly clueless as to what she could do. Meanwhile, an orchestra of horn honking and angry curses were being thrown her way. She tried apologizing several times, but there were just too many cars with too many pissed off people in them backed up behind her. “What am I gonna do?” She groaned, nibbling on her lower lip.
