What made you decide on using Croatian for Baron Zemo when most people seem to default to Czech? Is it just familiarity?
A lot of it is familiarity. I'm very out of practice and was always better at speaking than writing it, but yeah.
There's definitely more to it, though, too. This is a bit of a history thing.
As some of you may know, EKO-Scorpion was named after a Serbian paramilitary group charged with war crimes during the Yugoslav war - the Yugoslav war was in the 90s, the point at which Yugoslavia became a few different countries.
Excluding my other thoughts regarding MCU Wanda for a moment, what we do see is that she was a child when the war was taking place, and given her age it also fits the timing of the Yugoslav war fairly succinctly. Similarly, when Zemo talks about Sokovia, he mentions that it was unstable and having issues for quite a while. It also fits the timeline.
There's definitely been some confusion in mapping where Sokovia is supposed to be, from being in Western Italy/Slovenia to somewhere around Syria, so... It's in the Balkans, not unlike Latveria, so trying to key in a specific place would be a challenge.
I guess in my head, all of those things added up to "Sokovia is one of the countries that came when Yugoslavia split." And again, yes, that could've resulted in my using any number of languages from the area, but Croatian is the only one I know, and I like to imagine Zemo's slight struggle with Russian comes from not really reading Cyrillic comfortably.

He had the big luck to be born in a rich family which was both his curse and his blessing.
It was hard for his parents to accept but it granted him the best teachers and specialists to teach him how to deal with it.

He has this memory sealed into his mind of being shown cards with the classic round faces with smile up or reverse smile. Happy and sad.

He was fairly difficult as a child, once he decided that he would eat only food coloured in white and that was the thing for many years. Also it took him ages to eat, his nanny would sit in front of him for hours as he dissectioned every bit of it.
He is neat, he would take a “mission” and dissect it to the bone, no fear and no limits. That’s how he achieved Bucky’s control and that’s why he also likes to tease him. He studied him, his teasing is pure scheming applied to a lab rat, his words are the labyrinth the rabbis stuck into.
His hyper fixation on details made him an incredible good student on topics he liked. He learned through his youth to keep rituals like sleeping and eating at certain times, that’s why he obsessively fixates on tea time, because they thought it to him as a form of control over his schedule.
Music prodigy.
The way he speaks often irritates people because he sounds mocking but most of the times he applies rituals of speech he learned. He learned to match voice tone to the situation through experience.
He doesn’t feel the need to explain himself, to justify his ways or connect with people. He surely would benefit from being in a couple with somebody that knows his ways and his behavioural schemes to allow him freedom.
He is exceptionally good with kids for the way he finds them so clear and honest and they match his understanding in unfiltered ways.
We all know that the head tilt is his brain processing facial features connected to voice tone and situation to make up a deeper understanding of the person who is speaking.
Weird question, but does Zemo still wear his wedding ring? I haven't been able to find a decent gif of his right hand (bc lefties sometimes wear it on their right), but all the gifs of his left hand are ring free...
Which means either he had it confiscated (in a hospital, in jail, etc.), or it's just another symbol of his family he lost when Sokovia fell (like maybe he didn't take it on military missions incase he was ever, like, lost on a mission so his son could have it when he was old enough, but his house is literally rubble now so he doesn't even have the simplest reminder of his family).

in civil war, i believe that he does wear his wedding ring, because i KNOW i pointed it out
however, in tfatws, i don't believe he wears it. this would make sense too, because prisons usually don't allow inmates to bring in jewelry or things. likely, he had to give up his wedding ring when he was put in the german prison and, while escaping, he didn't think to get it (after 7 years of not wearing it, i don't blame him for not immediately thinking of it).
basically, it's my personal headcanon that he had it confiscated when he was put in prison, and oeznik found a way to smuggle it to him while he's in the raft

Zemo:
I've read lots of omega Zemo stuff, and frankly, I love it. But honestly, I see him as likely a beta. He can go either way ya know, bottom or top. He wouldn't experience heats or ruts but loves to either keep an omega with him at all times, or be completely owned by an alpha, or even just have another beta partner. I like to think his wife would have been a beta as well.
Laszlo:
Omega. Omega omega omega. I know I am like religiously write sub-Laszlo stuff, in fact, I have only ever written sub-Laszlo though I do have plans for a dom Laszlo one-shot to write, but I do see him as such a sub. So that's why I go for omega. He is certainly a fiery omega though. The whole, I don't need an alpha type (until he gets his heat and then he has to lock himself away in his room so he doesn't jump on John) and with the reputation and position of power, he has most when here of him just assume he is an Alpha. So what a surprise most people get when they smell the sweet scent of him. In that time omega's would still be looked down upon so he does a lot of activism as well and protects young omegas who have recently had their first heat in his institute.
Andrea:
I mean is this even needed to be said? Definitely an omega. You just take one look at him and it screams omega. He would be the extremely needy type, even when he wasn't in heat. As soon as he picks up on your scent he is all over you, begging you to be inside of him. When he is in heat it's even worse. You are essentially are not allowed to leave the bed because as soon as you do he is crying out saying he needs you again to help him with his heat.
Niki:
While I do love sub!Niki, I think we can all agree dom Niki is what most people lean-to. He's very arrogant and a dick which is like alpha traits 101. He needs his omega with him at all times and he hates it if other drivers, aka James, tries to flirt with them, He would be constantly marking you and scenting you as a reminder to everyone else that you belong to him.

With those anger issues? Definitely an alpha. Most people on the ship are alpha's and so tensions run high and he gets into fights a lot with the others and if you go into heat. Oh boy. He is very possessive over you and won't let you be near any of the other alpha's till it is over because he doesn't want to risk anything. He has stamina though and will be kind to you through your heat, helping you all the time in any way he can.
Alex Kerner:
Like with Andrea, he is an omega. A needy one but unlike Andrea, he might be more withheld and considerate for what you want to do as well. Though he wants to be on you and with you whenever he can and during his heat he doesn't want you going too far. He would beg to be marked by you though. He feels like the guy who falls deeply in love at first sight and knows straight away he wants to be your mate for life.
Sebastian:
He's a beta! As I say he is a wild card and without smelling him, you can't tell from how he acts if he is an alpha or a omega and that's because he is a mix and can be in either position making him a beta. Though he does like leaning on more of a bottom side he is happy too and enjoys also being with an omega and railing them senseless.

Omega. I was debating about him being a beta but thinking about it, he is hopeless and needs someone to look after him and make all his decisions and that is just omega hands down. He needs an Alpha to come in and look after him so he doesn't have to make any hard decisions, just being there to satisfy his alpha.

Omega! Though like power omega? He is well known, he has power and reputation but it is clear to everyone he is an omega. Still, he doesn't let that get to him. He shows that he is as capable as an Alpha. Still, when he goes into heat he does become so needy for you. He is already a loving partner but in heat, it is turned up to the max. He is covering you with lots of kisses and hugging you so that you will help him through his heat. He craves you so much and loves you so dearly.
