NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC FEATURE SPECIAL 

Recently back from an epic month in China shooting an NGC feature length special about China’s First Emperor. Qin Shi Huang Di is a figure of myth and legend, world-renowned for his Terracotta Army. The film is produced by Brook Lapping; there have been three film units at work in China, with myself employed to shoot the drama with director Hugh Ballantyne and a full Chinese crew. This 90′ special combines scripted period narrative & documentary scenes based on recent findings from the ongoing tomb excavation in Shaanxi province. The film aims to reimagine the mythic emperor, so often cast as a blood-thirsty tyrant. Working on large period sets in Hengdian World Studios (Jinhua, Zhejiang province) turned out to be an amazing experience but also an enormous challenge as none of my crew spoke English! (except my trusty B-cam op/2nd unit Adam Feeney). The film is currently being edited in London and should be aired in the Autumn. exec director Chen Kaige (FAREWELL MY CONCUBINE) exec prod.
