The large doors of the Sovereign’s palace slowly open up as someone from the outside proceeds to make their way inside.A gust of cold, crisp mountain air rushes through the gap between the gates; a flurry of snow follows riding on the air currents, eventually landing on the ocean blue carpet that extended the length of the castle foyer.

One of the palace servants approached the entrance and waited to see who it was that was seeking entry into the Sovereign's home. It was another mouse only a little larger than she was. His entire back covered with a dusting of snow, each step leaving a small pile of ice behind.

The mouse slowly lowered the hood on his travel cape, his eyes weary from his long journey. The maid knew the identity of this monster immediately, quickly bowing into a courtesy as she was taught. “Welcome home your highness, Prince Kel,” she spoke in a respectful tone.

The crowned prince looked down at the maid and smiled gently. “Thank you Zefie. It is good to be home once more. How have things been with my sister during my absence?” he asked genuinely curious. His journeys tended to take him away from the palace for long periods and so always liked to catch up on any development that happened while he was gone.

“Queen Celsus is in good health. She even seems to be in much higher spirits as of late after out recent visit from the Dreemurr Kingdom.”

“Dreemurr? I was under the impression their kingdom was still sealed behind a barrier,” he asked in surprise. He had known about that kingdom through many stories told by his mother.

“It would appear that is no longer the case Sire. Allow me to run you a bath, you must be tired after your journey,” she suggested kindly.

Kel chuckled. He had missed the warmth the palace walls provided. He walked over to Zefie and placed a hand softly on her shoulder. “Thank you Zefie. You know how to always make me feel better.”

Zefie blushed red as the prince touched her and praised her with such kind words. “Y-y-you’re welcome Sire. I-I-I’ll go see to that bath right away,” she squeaked bashfully. She gave another bow before running off into another corridor.
