Personality: Zaranthi is a quiet extrovert, liking to be around others rather than on her own, but doesn’t have a pressing need to be the center of attention or in the middle of every conversation. She’s good at getting along with people and is friendly and willing to help others out. Zaranthi is known for being earnest and but sometimes she can be overly blunt or stick her foot in her mouth.

She’s a very hands-on person and prefers action and trusting her instincts to long contemplation. As she’s grown older and more wise in the Force, Zaranthi has become more patient and lost much of her original headstrong (some would say reckless) behaviors.

Zaranthi is known to be tenacious. Once she commits to a course of action it’s hard to turn her away from it. She puts her all into everything she does.

Background: Zaranthi was born on Telos to a member of the Republic Agricultural Corps and his wife, a doctor. She was around 6 when her Force sensitivity was confirmed, so she has some memory of her family and of her home planet. She’s always known she wants to settle back on Telos when the fighting’s over.

Zaranthi’s initial training occurred in a small enclave. She settled into her role as a Jedi initiate easily and was popular with her classmates for her friendliness and willingness to help out. She soon discovered she was a hands-on learning who did better in physically-oriented and practical tasks, rather than academic ones like meditation or Jedi philosophy. She particularly stood out in combat lessons. She daydreamed of the kinds of roles she’d fill once she became a Padawan and then a Knight, picturing traveling the galaxy to solve trouble, right wrongs, and fight the Empire and other threats to the Republic.

When she was 16, a Master who was passing through the enclave took interest in her and offered to take her as a Padawan - with the warning that it wouldn’t be a typical experience, since Sekhe was a Jedi serving in the Exploration Corps rather than the mainline Order. Zaranthi was delighted to be noticed by a Master and given the opportunity to leave the enclave, so she accepted immediately.  

Sekhe and Zaranthi traveled on several planetary surveys for the next few years. Zaranthi sometimes worried about being bored or not learning much to help with her goals, but it turned out that life with her Master sometimes involved landing on new worlds, surviving hostile environments, interacting with new cultures, diplomacy on the fly, and more.

Eventually Sekhe returned to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to take a break from surveying, record discoveries for the archives, and teach some classes to the students there. Zaranthi was encouraged by Sekhe to take additional classes to expand her skills and learn about other paths of the Jedi Order. She took the time to learn about the duties and job options for a Jedi Knight, and devoted herself to additional combat lessons.

They had been on Coruscant approximately a year before the sneak attack by the Sith Empire. Sekhe had been taking Zaranthi to a museum exhibit elsewhere and they were not at the Temple. They assisted civilians for the duration of the occupation, and once Coruscant was ceded back to the Republic after the Treaty, they rejoined forces with other Jedi.

With the war officially over and the Order shaken by its losses, Sekhe and Zaranthi stayed within the bounds of Republic space and worked more traditional Jedi duties, rather than returning to Sekhe’s preferred Exploration Corps abilities. Once Tython was rediscovered and the Temple established, Sekhe traveled to return to teaching and reconstruction, and Zaranthi went back to honing her combat abilities and taking classes.

Since achieving Knighthood at the age of 27, Zaranthi has serves the Order in combat-likely positions. She’s been posted to Taris and Corellia. She was assigned to the Korriban raid and as such was not on Tython when the Sith Empire attacked. She’s also served in the joint efforts on Yavin IV.

Sekhe is in her 70s. She has been a part of the Jedi Service Corps for most of her life, specifically serving in the Exploration Corps. She enjoys finding new planets and digging into their mysteries, be it thriving cultures or ancient ruins. Her skills include combat with both a lightsaber and a double-bladed sword, wilderness navigation and survival, archaeological training, and diplomacy.
