Post-it Note Inktober #9: My Deathwatch Librarian, Zalman.

[ Heart drabbles ]

“Zal!” The Space Wolf’s roar echoed through the corridors. He hated being this angry, but he had been more than patient, and enough was enough. This had to end. “ZAL!” He yelled again, stalking his way to Zalman’s room. The servitors were wise enough to stay out of his way. 

There was a muted click as Zalman established the psy-link to Ranulfr’s mind, allowing them to communicate, and the other man looked up with some surprise as he was met with Ranulfr’s ire. +What is it?+ 

Ranulfr threw the fur blanket at his feet. It was covered in blood - just splotches dotting it, in small patches, but it bothered him all the same. “That isn’t mine, and it sure as hell isn’t Hati’s.” He snarled. “I told you to get your bloody cat to stop putting its kills in my room!” 

Zalman’s brow furrowed, and he picked up the furs, examining the blood. +I have, I can assure you of that.+ He glanced to the small basket where Bastet slept, and sure enough, at the foot of it was a small dead rodent. There were a few spots on blood on the floor, but it was evident that the blood on the fur did not come from the cat’s kills. 

The ship rumbled around them, and there was a sudden screech from the ceiling. Both Astartes’ eyes shot up to the vent, as a scratching sound began to echo out from it. 

Post-it Note Inktober #11! A very quick sketch of Zalman, my Deathwatch Librarian. Got this one done in under an hour! :D

It’s very, very difficult to get Zalman actually angry - he’s too calm and patient for it, and even on the very rare occasion where he does get angry, he keeps it under control. Mental discipline is one of the most important things to himself and his chapter.

But if he ever did lose his temper to the point of actual violence, it wouldn’t be obvious from his expression or body language - the first clue would be that small objects anywhere near him would just start randomly floating up off the ground.
