In my opinion, WWSIF is still pretty active - tiering is definitely not a walk in the park for some of the more popular girls or reward-loaded events (such as the current quadruple-SR event streak going on). WWSIF has also been getting a lot of updates, and recently received one last week that implemented the class system, love gem pieces, and promo card buffs.

Time does take its toll though, and a game that’s been around as long as SIF can’t compete too well with shiny new games like Garupa and Revue Starlight ReLIVE. I’ve heard that JPSIF is definitely less active, and some of it can probably be attributed to those two games (though take that with a grain of salt, since I personally don’t play JPSIF/Garupa/ReLIVE). So compared to “before” - yes, WWSIF has probably gotten a bit slow in terms of overall player activity.

In fact, Love Live as a whole is probably not as active as before thanks to a lot of fans moving on to fandoms like Bandori and Revue Starlight. hell, i’m not as active as before either, though it’s thanks to having very little free time after switching from nonprofit work to corporate life

600 gems are enough to get that Lmtd UR

With 100 members, I’d need 9 10+1 scouts (plus a green ticket) to empty the box. 9 times 50 is 450 gems.

Then there’s the step-up scouting:

30 + 40 + 50 + 50 (to get to at least step 4) is 170 gems.

That’s a total of 620 gems for a chance to get at least 1 copy, maaaaybe 2 copies of the birthday UR if I’m lucky enough. I’m not gunning too hard for 2 copies since the birthday UR is already idolized, but it’d sure be nice.

Yes, 600 gems is plenty enough to get 1 limited UR. In fact, 450 plus one solo yolo is exactly enough.

I started playing SIF in December 2015. Once Rin’s birthday comes around, that will mark almost four fucking years of saving and waiting and praying that my dream Constellation Rin UR comes home at long last. I’ve desperately scouted in her birthday box for the past two years with no such luck, despite saving as much as over 2615 gems for my first scouting attempt. Because of that, I try to save as many gems as I can to be well-prepared for Rin scouts.

That’s why, as much as I love You, it kills me to have to use so many gems for her birthday box. Those 9 10+1s could have been an extra 99 chances at pulling one of the main reasons I got invested in Love Live. No joke, I would probably cry a little bit if I finally got my dream UR because it’s a card that holds a lot of meaning to me.

(Well, not enough to whale on packs or anything because I’m strictly F2P and have patiently collected my 2k gem stash over the course of several years, but then again I never whale on anything except BDs and the occasional Shukashuu magazine lol)

Lastly, you’ll notice that I said I’d probably use, like, 600 gems total because of the worst-case scenario of using 450 gems to empty out the limited box. What if I get lucky and end up getting the limited UR without having to do that? Why would I be so pessimistic?

Well...wanna guess what happened when I tried to pull Rin’s limited birthday UR last year?

I never thought they’d result to the old desu/death pun (for those who aren’t familiar with it: the sentence ending desu/です happens to sound exactly the same as the Japanese pronunciation of the English word death/デス)...but to take it a step further and make “desuwa” into “DEATHWAR”...I can’t believe it. My pun-loving side is so proud of LL right now.

Yeah, so far it looks like the third years going “missing” is them directly reacting to Mari’s impending marriage and nyooming off to Italy. Hilarious that Kanan and Dia are being painted as kidnappers here, since usually it’s Mari that would be dragging them into weird happenings.

Well. Except for the school idol thing back when they were first years. Dia and Kanan were the ones who dragged her into that back then...so maybe Momri is using that as a basis for making Mari out to be some kind of captured princess. Who knows?

Anyways, while I’m still inclined to give kudos to the LL staff for the great “desuwa/DEATHWAR” pun, a small part of me wonders if someone just made a really bad translation error...nah...there’s no way someone would make a mistake that bad in a movie...

...then again, this is the series that gave us “Daring!!” instead of “Darling!!” so, uh. Hm.

On the subject of Momri and grave mistakes, I actually have another giant question that needs to be answered:

If this lady is supposed to be Mari’s mother...

...then who the heck is this lady from S2E10? Weren’t these two mysterious figures supposed to be her parents?

Well, I guess you could make the argument that this still could be Momri, since the shadowy colors could make her hair look almost dark-brown like it does in this picture...? Or better yet, you could argue that these two are just a butler and a maid, given their stern expressions and formal clothing. Though, that would be kinda weird since the third years were on the subject of Mari’s parents during this flashback.

Still, this doesn’t defeat the most damning piece of evidence. Recall the following from her official character introduction:

Her mother is Japanese, while her father is Italian-American and manages a hotel chain.

Okay, I know LL has a thing about moms looking like slightly modified older clones of their daughters, but seriously? Did they just pull a J.K. Rowling and accidentally make a contradiction official?

I mean...I guess you could argue that despite being a foreigner by blood, her mother could be of Japanese nationality, and would technically be “Japanese” in that sense.

The LL staff definitely knew that the new trailers would spark a whole bunch of questions, but I don’t know if they intended one to be raised over Mari’s parentage. _(:3 」∠)_ 

One last thing about Momri, though. Given that LL has a track record of hiring famous seiyuu as the voice behind LL moms and sisters (e.g. Nico’s mom being voiced by Mitsuishi Kotono AKA Sailor Moon, Riko’s mom being voiced by Mizuki Nana AKA Ainya’s role model)...

@rxasus: I’m glad you’re enjoying them, even though all I’m doing at this point on my blog is venting about dumb shit that happens on this website + random things I’m doing on SIF;; Thanks for the kind words - your sympathy does help me recognize that I’m needlessly trapping myself into a foul mood over things I don’t have much control over. Bad days happen to everyone, and it’s up to me to keep myself upbeat to overcome the hard times.

Of course, it really helps when you’re a fan of a cute Japanese girl who posts nice pictures of herself in Singapore on Twitter, and writes blog posts that literally say that her mission as an idol is to help people forget all their troubles and put a smile on their face. ( ; w ; )

In all seriousness, I don’t expect you to know any more than I do about what this content filter reviews, so my snark isn’t personally directed at you. I just find it really hard to believe that the cause was a tiny, innocuous portion of a low-quality image. If Tumblr’s filters really do work that way, then well...I have some really strong words for the idiot behind that decision.

Before I answer, let me give some background for those who don’t know: back in September 2017, I stumbled across Rikyako’s brief stint as a comedian when she was around 14~15 years old. Rikyako and her mom had the stage name “Boshikatei”, which literally means “mother-child household” if you just read each individual character. The actual word itself means “fatherless family”.

This, combined with the knowledge that her mom gave birth to her at the young age of 20, and the fact that Rikyako had only ever talked about her mom or grandparents whenever the subject of family came up, led me to conclude that Rikyako grew up without a dad.

Back to your ask - yup, the photobook definitely does. Rikyako had a long interview included in her photobook “R.A.”. One of the questions was about her family structure, and she straight-up revealed that she was raised by a single mom. She also talks about how her parents divorced when she was three years old, so she doesn’t really have any memories of her father. Luckily, her grandparents doted on her a lot, so she wasn’t too lonely.
