Drinpixeled (Drin2) Magazine | 2025 A completely FREE magazine for the public who are curious about one person's opinions on a few games they played in 2025.
Some people bullet journal, some people write in a diary, I made a digital magazine; an attempt to reclaim the days of flipping through vide
Is it "Tales of Symphonia"? "Tales of Phantasia"? "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past"? No, no, and no, but I'd guess it's old enough to have had enough influence on all three. Perhaps a few hundred other Japanese fantasy games, too.
Got back to playing the "YS 1" variant available on Steam. I don't think I'm very good at this game, but I'm at least making progress. The battle system threw me off a bit at first, but at least I feel like I've got more control over it than...oh, let's say "Hydlide," for another crusty comparison.
Sometimes, ya've gotta go back far enough into the dirt to see how the bones of the world changed through what fossils remain.
Ys1 art trade~~~
I never wanna do any boss fight like this dvd screensaver bullshit

Ok yes THIS is a good game
I was playing ys 1 on the turbografx-16 (CD emulator) and I quick-save my game on a safe spot, got a game over and turn out that where one of the monster spawn so it kill’s me no matter what. end up doing the whole game again
Started Ys 1 last night and my expectations were low since it's a game from 1987 but wow it holds up extremely well. I'm about halfway through from what i can tell (about to enter darm tower) and i just figured I'd keep track of what i think so far here:
WOW THE MUSIC. I've played trails in the sky fc and about a third of sc so i know that falcom has some bangers but this is something else entirely. The field and dungeon themes have a 80s metal vibe to them and it pairs really well with the somewhat rhythmic pace of the bump system.
The whole game is very short, with 3 dungeons, 3 towns, and only 2 or so main overworld sections, all of which is very quick to traverse. I like this. Making the first entry in the series a low time investment makes it very easy to get invested in the other games.
The bump system is a great innovation and I'm really looking forward to seeing what the rest of the games that use it do with the idea. I've never been a huge fan of the 2d Zelda style of combat so this is really fun. Sometimes it leads to situations where taking damage is unavoidable but at that point you have a way to regenerate lost health inside of dungeons.
The only criticism i have so far is that the story and characters seem very dry, especially after seeing the quality of the writing in trails in the sky, but i expected this from the first game in the series.
The pattern of that bat vampire boss is bullshit and hilarious, i love it.
Hit max level and got what i assume are the endgame weapons way sooner than i was expecting, but the whole game is way smaller than i anticipated.
