Is this a wind up? What, was 55% of Scotland falling for Westminster's rubbish not good enough?! Never have I been so fucking proud to have voted yes. I can wear my yes badges with pride because not only do they mean I voted yes (obviously), but they also show I am not gullible :/ #whatajoke #indyref #wheresyerdevo?! #youyesyet #the45 #gordonbrown
A group of left-leaning northerners
Tried to secede with all the land and oil
But were foiled.
Now smell my roses.

Why I'm voting Yes tomorrow
I’ve reblogged, retweeted and generally parroted the views, arguments and opinions of others in the lead up to the Independence Referendum tomorrow. I’ve been hesitant to add my own voice to the mix because what can I say that hasn’t been said a thousand times before? I’m not one for quoting figures because I don’t have a head for numbers and I tend to jumble my words when put on the spot. However, I think it’s important to put down my own thoughts somewhere, even if it’s just for me to be able to look back and say “that was why.” I’m voting yes first and foremost because it is the answer to whether or not a country should govern itself. I have listened to the arguments put forth by the Better Together/No Thanks campaign and not one has convinced me that Scotland can’t manage its own affairs and work towards becoming a better country. It’s nothing to do with any kind of flag-waving sentiment or anti-Englishness because it’s really not about identity. For me, it boils down to the fact that a Scottish Parliament elected by 100% of the population would be best representing us in all areas of government (including the areas of governmental control that are currently with Westminster; foreign policy, defence, electricity, oil, gas, social security, more tax powers, etc.) than a Westminster Parliament where we elect 9% of the politicians who representing the 8.3% we Scots makeup of the overall UK population. Yes, there’s the currency question (although we can keep the sterling and in the event of a Yes vote Westminster would be shooting itself in the foot to completely rule out a currency union, but that’s just my opinion) and there are going to be risks in voting yes. Anyone who thinks that Scotland will turn into a magical fairy land where all our problems go away overnight after a Yes vote is kidding themselves. But I think the reward, no matter the difficulties, no matter the risks, will be absolutely worth it. I think we can build a fairer, equal Scotland. It’s not about politicians, it’s about people. It's about a better country for those people. Not a country with constant welfare cuts and a rising number of food banks. I don’t expect that this pile of rhetoric will help anyone make up their mind, but I would say that if you don’t know how you’re going to vote, please, please don’t ‘vote no if you don’t know’. You’ve got a bit of time, do some more reading, listen to your head and/or heart, and if you do decide to vote no, do so for a solid reason. All the better if you decide to vote yes, but I’m not pushing. Vote for what you think is right, for what you think is best, and if you really don’t know then draw a wee picture of a fish.
