Dean couldn't believe his eyes. Castiel Novak, famous youtuber and the love of his life, was in Lawrence High School.Â
Dean had discovered Castiel’s channel when he had been watching cat videos and in the corner of his eye on the recommended videos was a handsome man holding a small kitten. Dean quickly clicked on the video and was immediately sucked into the world of the boy with the deep voice and blue eyes.Â
Dean had religiously watched his videos for the past six months, sometimes rewatching them at night so Castiel’s soothing voice could lull him to sleep.
Of course he’d never admit this, so when Castiel showed up looking like sex on legs, he couldn’t help but fangirl on the inside.Â
C’mon Winchester hes just a guy. Just like you. Only gorgeous. And funny. And adorable. And- damn it! Get going!Â
Dean swaggered over to where Castiel was standing only for him to whip around and stumble into Dean.
“Oh my apologizes I did not see you there”
“Oh it’s alright dude. I was just wondering if I’ve met you before you look kinda familiar.” Nice Winchester play it cool.
Castiel’s eyes widened and he started to stutter. “Oh! Um I d-don’t believe we’ve ever met before. I’m a new student here and I was just about to try and find my class and-”
“Oh I’ll help you out. I know where all the classrooms are.” Dean supplied with a obvious wink. Castiel blushed and stuttered out a yes.

Dean found his videos by accident while watching music videos on YouTube. He clicked the video because the guy in the thumbnail picture looked cute and the video title told him that it was a cover of one of his favorite songs. In the video a guy, about Dean's age, was singing alone with background music. His voice was angelic and his eyes were so blue that Dean got stuck on them even through his laptop screen. Dean spent hours on the guy's YouTube channel that night and watched every video at least once, some twice or even three times if he really liked the song.
The guy had almost fifty videos on his channel called The Singing Angel. In most of his videos the guy was singing alone a cover of some popular song. In some videos he was singing together with a dark haired girl and they voices worked together beautifully. In few videos the guy sang some less popular songs that Dean had never even heard before but he liked them, mostly because of the guy's voice. The blue eyed guy could sing a phonebook and Dean would still love it.
Dean got a little obsessed. Obviously he subscribed to the guy's channel immediately after watching the first video. He made a special playlist on his own channel where he added all his favorite songs from the guy, so basically almost all of them. Â Dean downloaded the audio files of the videos and used the guy's songs as his ringtone on his phone, his alarm sound to wake up to in the morning and listened to him while running. Whenever Dean was home he listened to those songs, that voice, and often just watched the videos again and again, falling for those blue eyes a little more every time.
Dean noticed how the guy got better at editing the videos. His very first videos were just simply him standing in front of a shitty video camera singing, but the newer videos were really well edited and he had probably gotten a new camera since the quality was so much better. His voice had always been a pleasure to listen to and now his videos looked amazing too.
It had been seven months since Dean first found the guy's channel when he was visiting his brother Sam and his girlfriend Jess a few towns over. Dean was spending the weekend with them at their place, just because he could. They all happened to have the whole weekend off so why not? Dean didn't have the chance to see his little brother that often these days because whenever one of them had the time, the other one was at work or doing something else.
On Saturday night they decided to go out for drinks and Sam and Jess took Dean into a small bar down the road and Jess told him that the bar has an open mic night every Friday and Saturday and usually the singers were really good. Dean had nothing against some live music so they took a seat on a booth after getting their first drinks. Dean was sitting his back towards the small stage but he could still see it clearly if he would just turn a little.
The first two singers were great. The first one, a girl called Hannah sang beautifully while playing a guitar and the audience cheered loudly after her performance. After her two songs another girl, Meg, sang a love song that was a bit cheesy to Dean's taste but her voice was kind of dark and rough and it brought a much needed edge to the song and Dean actually enjoyed it a lot. He cheered with the others as Meg exited the stage.
"Next up is the always so amazing, Castiel!" The guy hosting the open mic night announces and just seconds later Dean heard the first notes of Led Zeppelin's All My Love. Dean kept drinking his beer, not bothering to turn around to look at the stage. Not until the guy, Castiel started singing. Dean recognized the voice immediately and his head popped up from where he had been looking at his phone and he just stared in front of him with big eyes. Jess was sitting on the other side of the table and noticed the look on Dean's face.
"Dean? You okay?" Jess asked, snapping his fingers in front of Dean's face.
"It's him." Dean whispered.
"Who?" Sam asked.
"That voice." Dean spoke quietly and didn't dare to turn around and look at the stage. He had never thought that he would actually see the guy live and now he was sure it was him behind him, just few feet from him on the stage.
"What, you mean Castiel? He comes here almost every Saturday to sing, he has a really great voice!" Sam said, nodding his head towards the stage. Dean turned around slowly on his seat to look at the stage and gasped a little when he saw the guy. It was him.
Cas sang three songs, three songs Dean had heard him sing on his videos over and over again and Dean couldn't take his eyes off him. Castiel was even more gorgeous in real life and his voice melted Dean's heart. When he left the stage everyone cheered at him and a lot of people closer to the stage patted his back and talked to him quickly before Castiel walked to the bar and sat down on one of the stools. Dean kept staring at him with his mouth still hanging slightly open.
"Dean what did you mean by 'it's him'?" Sam asked, trying to get Dean's attention.
"That's... That's the guy who's videos I've been watching online for months!" Dean hissed and leaned closer to the couple on the other side of the table so that no one else would hear him.
"Cas has a YouTube channel? You need to show me that!" Sam said excited and Dean tried to shush him down.
"Why don't you go talk to him? I'm sure he would love to meet a fan." Jess smiled at him and nodded towards the bar where Cas was sitting and talking with some girl. They were laughing and seemed to be having a good time and Dean's stomach flipped unpleasantly.
"I don't know, he has company and I don't want to, you know, cockblock the guy. And he would probably think I'm some kind of freak or something." Dean said, rolling the now empty beer glass between his hands.
"That's just his sister Anna," Jess laughed and continued, "just go talk to him, say that you have seen his videos and that you really like them. He would love to hear that, believe me."
"I don't know... It would be embarrassing..." Dean mumbled, glancing again towards the dark haired guy.
"You know what would be even more embarrassing? Me kicking you out of this booth and dragging you there. So we can do that or you can just go there on your own." Jess cocked an eyebrow to him and Dean leaned back on his seat to put some more distance between them.
"Okay, I uh... I'll go. Sam, how is my hair?" Dean asked, turning to look at his brother.
"Your hair is great! Now go!" Sam rolled his eyes. Dean took a deep breath and got up. His palms started to sweat before he was even half way there. Castiel was still talking with his sister and Dean didn't know what to do. It would be awkward to just go there stand next to them and wait for them to pay attention to him and it would be rude to just interrupt them. Still he kept walking towards Castiel, licking his lips as a nervous habit.
When he got closer Castiel turned to look at him and gave him a quick once over before smiling to him. Encouraged by that smile Dean stopped next to him.
"Hi."
"Hello." A deep voice answered and Dean was pretty sure the blush on his cheeks was visible even in the dim lights of the bar. Castiel's sister quickly left and Cas gave a little nod to her before turning his eyes back to Dean.
"Umm... You were really great up there. I liked the songs you had chose." Dean said while trying to stay still and not move his weight from foot to foot or pull his sleeves like he so badly wanted to do, the nervous habits rising to the surface.
"Thanks, I'm glad you liked. I'm Castiel." Cas pushed his hand forward and Dean swiped his hand quickly on the side of his thigh before shaking it.
"Dean. Winchester. I'm Dean Winchester." Dean said.
"So, Dean Winchester, you are a classic rock kinda guy, I take?" Cas smirked and picked up his drink and took a sip.
"Yeah, I am. My dad taught me a lot about music back in the day." Dean answered and felt pretty damn proud of himself for managing to form a sentence while those blue eyes were staring back at him intensively and those plush pink lips were turned into a little smirk.
"That's great. You want anything to drink, Dean?" Cas asked and nodded his head upwards, wordlessly asking the bartender to come over. Dean was about to burst. The guy he had been drooling over for months, the guy he thought he would never actually meet was offering to buy him a drink. Dean considered pinching himself but decided that if this was a dream he wouldn't want to wake up.
"I uh... Beer. Beer is good, thanks." Dean nodded and Cas ordered and paid the drink for him.
"Please take a seat, Dean." Cas gestured to the empty stool next to him and Dean didn't need to be told twice. He started to relax a little. Castiel seemed really nice and cool and it was going well so far.
"I haven't seen you here before." Cas said as he handed Dean his drink.
"This is my first time here, I'm actually visiting my brother and his girlfriend in town." Dean smiled sweetly.
"Oh, should I then let you back to them or..." Cas asked, his face looking almost disappointed.
"I think they will survive without me for a while." Dean said with a smile and Cas's face brightened again.
"Good, it would have been a shame to let you go." Cas said and winked, making Dean blush again.
"I have to admit something." Dean said with a shy grin and took a sip of his beer, keeping his eyes on Castiel.
"Oh, what's that?" Castiel lifted an eyebrow in surprise.
"I recognized  you, your voice actually. I've been following your YouTube account for quite a long time now." Dean said and blushed a little, hoping he didn't just make this awkward.
"Don't tell me you are one of those crazy fans who leave inappropriate comments on every video I make?" Cas laughed a little and seemed just a hint of nervous.
"No! Oh god no. I don't think I have ever left a single comment on any video ever." Dean chuckled and shook his head. He had read some of the comments on Castiel's videos and now that Cas had few thousand subscribers his videos got some pretty freaky comments.
"Good to know" Cas smirked and took another sip of his drink.
They talked for a long time about everything and Dean was surprised how easy it was to talk with him about anything and everything after he had gotten over the nervousness. They flirted back and forth, especially Castiel who was way smoother with his flirt than Dean could ever be but Dean made his interest known too.
"Dean? Hey, Jess and I are going." Sam was suddenly standing next to him with a hand on his shoulder.
"Oh. Sorry, I didn't notice the time going so fast. You want me to come with you or...?" Dean asked his brother, subtly nodding towards Castiel.
"No no, you can stay! Just wanted to let you know. Here is my key." Sam smiled and pressed his house key to Dean's palm. "Take care of my brother Cas." Sam smiled to Cas and padded his shoulder before wrapping his arm around Jess and turning away.
"You know my brother?" Dean asked after Sam and Jess were gone.
"Small town, everyone knows everyone." Cas smiled. "You wanna take a booth?" Cas asked.
"Yeah, sure." Dean smiled back to him and Cas ordered them another drinks before they moved to a small booth at the back of the bar. Dean slid into his seat and Cas sat down next to him instead of going to the opposite side of the table. And that wasn't all, Cas sat so close to him that their sides were pressed together. Not that Dean had any complains about it.
"How did you get into music?" Dean asked.
"My brother taught me to play piano when I was a kid." Cas said and moved even closer to him.
"Oh, so is your family very musical then?"
"Dean." Cas said calmly, looking Dean deep into his eyes.
"What?"
"I'd like to kiss you now. Can I?" Cas asked, biting his lower lip in a way that was both flirty and a little nervous.
"Oh... Y-yeah." Dean smiled shyly and blushed. Cas pressed his hand on Dean's thigh and leaned closer until their lips brushed together. Dean moved his hand on the back of Cas' neck to pull him closer and kissed him deeper.
When the bar closed Dean and Cas headed to Cas's place. They stayed up until the sun was already up. Cas played the guitar and sang Dean every song he wanted to hear. Dean tried to play a little too with Cas's help but the little guitar lessons quickly turned into make out sessions, not that either of them cared.
