#your protector

Here we are folks, we’ve made it to part eight of this collective review with Your Protector !

I am enchanted. I am lured in. I am bouncing back and forth along the frame of a bronco that wants to push harder and harder down an endless path. I am obsessed with the pacing of this song, it truly reminds me of the bounding of a tireless horse! Or even better, of a little fox!

The flutes in this song do it for me, they sound so lovely from start to finish, accentuating the other instruments with their own little flare as the song progresses. And again, the way the song starts slow, only to push into something more grandiose; it always takes the cake for me!

And the vocals that substitute in for the flute part around halfway through the song??? Are you kidding me??? I love the vocals in Fleet Foxes songs and I always will.

Also, at the breakdown near the end of the song, where just the drums are keeping the pace, and then the rest of the instrumental flows back? OH! I think this song just does such a wonderful job with the instrumental.

I cannot lie, the main chorus lyrics, the very same ones I used up above the cut, took a bit longer to grow on me just because of how up and down that part goes. I remember hearing it for the first time and being a bit thrown off by how the singer blazed right through them. I still feel as if I lean more towards the instrumental and vocals of this song because of that, outside of the “You run with the devil” part though, which I find very enjoyable!
