I love hearing you talk so I was wondering if you had any hcs for young!Frank? As I recall, the only thing we know about his childhood from the show is that his parents were older when they had him. Having a baby is never easy, especially if you're in your mid/late 40s (I imagine). And I don't think things got any easier when he got older. So what do you think he was like, pre-Maria?
Omg, P!Ā Youāre too much with how sweet you are!Ā You also keep me on my toes with your asks which I love <3Ā Ā
So like you said, his parents were a lot older than most as Frank shares with Zach in TPS.Ā He also says that they couldnāt control him and that he was a little asshole who wanted to hurt people too, like Zach seemingly wanted to in that scene.Ā Ā
I think young!Frank did want to hurt people, but not just anyone.Ā I think heās always had this innate need to help people and to be protective of people, but I also think he was an incredibly rambunctious boy so his way of helping was to get physical with people.Ā Basically, it was Frank who was always up to challenge the local bully/bullies.Ā He couldnāt stand to see people get picked on, so when he witnessed it, he stepped in.Ā However, to me, young!Frank cared more about teaching the bully a lesson, than it was about looking out for those that got picked on - does that make sense?Ā Like it wasnāt some after school special where Frank fights off the bully and than becomes best friends with the school nerd, no.Ā Frank wanted to help those getting bullied, but he did it by beating up the bullies, not by proactively protecting the victims.Ā I hope that makes sense.
I also think that young!Frank was street smart AND book smart, but he didnāt apply himself as much as he could have in his studies.Ā He was street smart because he was out playing with his friends until pretty late in the day, not coming home any earlier like his parents asked him too (thus not being able to control him like he said they couldnāt) and from just running amok in town, picked up the street smarts he had.Ā I also think he was book smart, because adult!Frank is extremely smart in both his way of doing things, his view on the world, and his seemingly love of reading/learning.Ā But Frank barely studied for tests, so his test grades were shit.Ā Which bothered his teachers immensely, because Frankās book reports, essays, etc. were some of the most thoughtful, intelligent ones they would receive.Ā
As rough and tough as he seemed, he still had that softness to him.Ā young!Frank was the kid who was bringing home injured birds and setting their wings with popsicle sticks, heād save half his sandwich to give to the homeless man in town on his way to his friendās house, heād mow the lawn of his elderly neighbor when the guy broke his hip and couldnāt get out of bed for awhile - but to Frank it was all nothing.Ā If you were to ask him about it, heād scoff and change the subject.Ā He just saw it as things he did that were just part of his day and deserved no extra talk about it.Ā Ā

āPartners in Armsā
New York City, 1958. When Henry Met Colleen. Henry Reagan, ex-Marine and veteran, now a Police Officer with the NYPD, meets his next big challenge in the shape of his new rookie partner.
Children always had their games that they loved to play with one another. Daniel and his cousin Frank ere no exceptions to this rule. After long days out doors playing futbol and sports alike, the pair grew exhausted and hung out in their fort they had built from many different blankets, little lights, and chairs.
Laughing along, the young Daniel climbed on top of Frank, throwing pillows at him playfully,Ā āFrank look out! The waves are crashing down on us! Swim on over to the ship! Weāll be pirates.ā
Crawling over, he couldnāt stop smiling, entangled with blankets at his ankles, and his head running along the top of the fort which was a sheet about to fall. As it did, Daniel couldnāt see, bumping into Frank. There was a thud and Daniel rubbed his head,Ā āOw...sorry Frankie.ā he went immediately to hug his cousin as an apology. After many more hours of playing pirates, cowboys, and of course wizards, the pair fell asleep in each othersā arms, tangled up in their fallen fort.
Frank stared at the Herbology textbook that was balancing precariously on the branch of the tall tree. His wand was with it, stolen by some seventh year Slytherin bloke who had been picking on him the past three weeks. "Oh no..."
