Mens Health Month
It is imperative that we address the emotional need of men and boys to improve the psychological well-being of all people. Phrases such as “man up” and “boys don’t cry” have become societal norms which should be challenged. It gives the misnomer that men with emotions are not strong. Itis is time to change the status quo so that men with mental health issues can feel empowered to take control of their mental well-being.
Toxic masculinity and other cultural barriers may prevent men from seeking help for their mental health when they feel they need it. It’s okay to admit that times are hard and stressful and you’re struggling. You aren’t alone, as other men are struggling too.
