不知道大家有沒有聽過或用過Podcast (播客)，有聽網絡電台習慣的人應該會比較熟悉。Podcast是"iPod"和“broadcast”的混成詞，但在iPod或iTunes支援Podcast前已有使用，而且Podcast也可以在任何可播放多媒體檔案的裝置上使用。
簡單來說， Podcast是多媒體版本的 news feed (訊息來源 / 新聞訂閱)，把音訊、影片或文字檔案以列表形式發佈，用戶可以透過訂閱該列表把內容下載或串流到各種裝置，從而接收資訊。
但由於YouTube的技術門檻低很多，因此容易接觸新觀眾，也方便發佈者和觀眾交流，更重要的是賺取收入的方式比較簡單。因此有些發佈者從Podcast轉移到YouTube平台上。
不過，YouTube必須連線才可以透過串流接收內容，在使用流動數據環境下容易受傳輸速度影響。而且YouTube的官方手機app不支援背景播放，必需打開螢幕和不可離開app，因此特別不利於收聽以聲音為主的節目。因此Podcast在節省數據和播放音訊這兩種需求下比YouTube更優勝。
在發佈者只提供YouTube影片而沒有提供Podcast的情況下，用户只能透過其他方式達成。而發佈者也可以利用下面這個方法快速地提供不同畫面質素或純音訊的Podcast。
