Ripley joins the Women’s March

Today I went to the Women’s Strike in Mexico City with a couple of good friends and my sister.  I am tired. I want to cry. We walk for almost 5 hours. I was in the middle of so many women, screaming their lungs off (I didn’t, it didn’t feel right to me, it’s their voices that need to be heard), sharing stories, sharing food, sharing markers to make signs, sharing a space. I was overwhelmed all the time by the beauty of hearing so many women voices screaming for their rights, demanding justice, laughing. It was.  REFRESHING. I am as gay as they come, but god damn it I will always love women. They have given me so much. All my best friends are women. Many of the people I look up to are women. OVER ONE HALF OF THE PLANET’S POPULATION IS WOMEN!!! And as I was there I couldn’t help but remember how SCARED I am every time one of my girl friends has to go ANYWHERE by themselves. My sister! She is smaaaaall and cute and gorgeous and I pretty much get down on my knees and pray every time she goes home alone. I am scared shitless everytime one of my roomies has to leave the city for work, because I am so fucking afraid they are never coming back. I once couldn’t get ahold of them for a weekend and I was about to go CRAZY. I cant even imagine what it is to live with that fear in the back of your  mind all the time. And i dont want them to live like that either.  So I will keep doing my best to change society. I am studying law. I will make it my goal to bring justice where there is not. For them. For all women. For all of us.  This was a life-changing experience and I will always remember the faces and voices of these brave women around me.

Mañana #8M yo paro, aunque en mi caso solo lo vaya a notar yo 🙈. Pero me sumo porque me parece muy importante la causa y porque, como siempre, cuantas más seamos, mejor ✊ . 8 de marzo Día Internacional de la Mujer Yo paro para reclamar los derechos que nos siguen siendo negados. Yo paro por mis hermanas, compañeras, ancentras y por todas aquellas mujeres que pelean todos los días por equidad, justicia, libertad y respeto. Yo paro por que no quiero seguir viviendo con miedo, mucho menos amoldarme a una sociedad que nos quiere sumisas y calladas desde hace siglos.
