Background:
Mi-Rae used to get bullied alongside Johan all through her life. She was a poor, weak, timid girl that everyone found an easy target. Just like Johan.
It was only after she knew Johan ran away that something in her told that she couldn't be the same weak girl anymore. So she took taekwondo lessons from taehoon's dad.
It wasn't a sudden decision, she often snuck in small peeks during hansu's teaching sessions. She was caught one day and rather than being scolded, he encouraged her to learn it officially.
That's when she found out that she has an actual talent for the martial art, taehoon's dad had two prodigies. Mi-Rae and his own son.
She had picked up a part time job, which didn't pay nearly enough, but it was close enough to pay a small portion of her fee to taehoons dad.
But everything had been going on too well for a while, misfortune was bound to come. That's how her life always was.
Mi-rae had no parents, her dad left, apparently all he cared about was business and didn't give nearly as much love to his family.
And that led to a depressive phase in the min family. A phase that her mom didn't come out of alive. Some part of mi-rae always hated her mom for it, how selfish does a mom have to be to leave her two daughters alone to suffer with no money to their name.
The only family mi-rae had was her elder sister, the only person mi-rae liked and respected. But alas, things couldn't go well for mi-rae even now.
She had to leave her house after 'the incident' rendering her homeless. But she couldn't bear living in the same house her sister's body laid lifeless.
She cursed and she cried, she ran and she screamed, "you will always have me, mi-rae." Lies, they were all lies
If they weren't lies, then why was she alone. Why was she left alone in this world.
Surviving on the street was when she discovered her new persona as 'zone'. It's easier to go under the radar with a fake name.
When she finally started to make a name for herself, gun and goo proposed the idea of being a crew leader.
She didn't really have enough to lead an entire crew but she was a too valuable card to let loose, or rather, a too threatening card to be up against. So she was considered as one of the geniuses, though not officially. She could be the 11th one, that's what Charles Choi said. To keep an eye on her.
Once she earned her first big buck check, the foremost thing she did was go back to taehoons dad and left a check at the doorstep with a small note saying 'sorry for the delay, sir.' and signed it with her name before she left.

The reason she doesn't liked being called by her real name is because it reminds her of the times she used to be fickle and vulnerable. And when everything from her life was taken away
Zone is the exact opposite of everything Mi-Rae was.
She always acts cocky even when she feels fear.
She likes keeping herself as closed off as possible, she's too secretive. there are only a handful of people who know her actual name. Gun and goo being two of them.
But even they don't know that she's a god when it comes to taekwondo, let alone her past.
She doesn't like fighting, but if the situation calls for it she'll do as she sees fit.
Reason she wears her mask is too keep her face hidden from public view, she isn't very trustworthy of people since she knows how manipulative people can actually be. So she likes to give out as little information about her as possible.
She's borderline aeroace because she never came to trust anyone after the death of her sister, let alone to think to have a romantic relationship.
It's the same reason she has very little to none remorse over what she does and what her job entails her to do.
Same reason applying to the fact she doesn't have friends.
