a/n: This was so much fun!! It's not as fleshed out as I would have wanted it to be but tbh I'm just impatient and want love to happen as fast as possible. I hope this does your request justice and have a great day you too!
.ă»ă.ă»ăâă»..ă»ă.ă»ăâă».
âHow was your day?â Jayoon mumbled as she heard you enter her room and greet her with a cheery âHi!âÂ
âNot bad actually! I met this super cute girl in class today, and I absolutely adore her already,â you chirped back in response.
The words caught Jayoon by surprise, making her quickly put away her pen and notebook. Studying could wait, especially when you come barging into her room, telling you that she âadoresâ some âsuper cuteâ girl she just met.
âI know, I know, that sounds so cheesy, but I do! I adore her already!â You continued to talk, throwing off your shoes and bag into a corner of the room before throwing yourself onto your best friendâs bed.
âOh, that was⊠quick,â she said while turning around in her chair to face you, trying to sound as normally shocked as she possibly could.
Luckily, you didnât register anything other than completely expected shock from her answer and went on to explain yourself. âI know, but we just âšclickedâš, you know what I mean?â
âYeah, sureâŠâ Jayoon muttered while she rose from her seat at her desk and moved over to the bed, plopping down next to you.
âOkay wait, let me get something to eat real quick before I tell you about her, do you want anything?â you burst out and hopped up from the bed before making your way towards the door.
âAnything really, you can just make extra of whatever you're having if thatâs fine,â she said, forcing a smile onto her face as you looked back at her halfway through the door.
You opened the door and declared: âTwo bowls of ice cream coming right up then!â before skipping out of the room, leaving your best friend alone in her room.
Jayoon isnât the jealous type. Okay⊠thatâs a lie. But she isnât the type to get jealous over things like you making a new friend?! At least she wasnât until today, she thought as she waited for you to come back. She threw her head back against the couch, closing her eyes and pressing her hands against her face; hoping the action would somehow make her snap out of the emotions banging on the door to her heart.
You came back with two bowls in your hands and a beaming smile settled comfortably on your face. Jayoon smiled back at you, telling herself that she wouldnât be this petty. The least she could do was hear about this girl and then decide if it was even necessary getting jealous over it at all. Not that she had any right to actually be jealous here. It was just a new friend; more importantly, she was your friend. Nothing more than that. She didnât have jealous privileges because of that and she knew it.Â
She took the bowl that you offered as you sat down next to her again, picking up where you had left off. "Now, I have to tell you about this girl, her name is Isa and she's just the sweetest person ever." you began, while simultaneously scooping up ice cream and plopping the spoon in your mouth.
"We haven't really talked much before now, but today we ended up talking a bit after class, and then we actually went out for coffee afterward and just talked!"
Your eyes were beaming as you spoke about this Isa person, Jayoon could feel the sticky feeling of rage mixed with envy making its way into her mind.
"She also really likes to read and she and her roommate are raising a bunch of cacti, together in their apartment. Isn't that just too cute!?" you continued.
Jayoon nodded, plastering a smile onto her face, "Uhu, sounds like she's really nice..." with a tone that you clocked as fake immediately.
"Okayy? what's with the tone Yoon?" you questioned, putting your spoon and bowl down on the bed to declare your seriousness.
This caught Jayoon by surprise; she didnt think you would notice it, or she hoped you wouldn't. But you two had been close for way too long for you not to notice when her acting skills were being put to work.
âNothing, Iâm just a bit tired thatâs all,â she tried to play it off, deciding that confronting this non-existent issue was something that should be avoided.Â
She was avoiding your skeptical gaze, but through her peripheral, she saw how you stared at her. It was burning her skin, the way your eyes bored into her head. She needed it to stop but what could she do? Her reaction wasnât normal, and you noticed, of course you noticed, but she needed you to let it go.Â
To her relief you eventually did. âAlright, I guess you need to sleep then, just⊠call me when you feel more rested,â you said, your voice containing both a genuine worry for her and a hint of annoyance, the latter being the part that made its way into Jayoons body only to stomp on her heart once you had picked up the bag and made your way out of her room.Â
God, why couldnât she just have listened to you like a good freaking friend? She wanted to be your friend, she really did, but sometimes it felt like there was something else between you. But that something was never going to happen. So why, why couldnât she just pretend to care, to be happy about this new acquaintance of yours? You hadnât even said that you liked this girl or anything⊠and still, it made her feel sick; hearing you talking about her with your face twisted up in a smile so wide she could swear you were glowing and sparkling like a damn diamond.Â
Jayoon groaned and threw herself down against the soft pillows underneath her, she would have to apologize for being such a downer to you later. First, however, she needed to sleep these horrible feelings off.Â
.ă»ă.ă»ăâă»..ă»ă.ă»ăâă».
It had been almost a week since you brought up Isa for the first time and Jayoon had begun acting even stranger around you. Whenever you would meet up you would hang out as usual; playing games, talking about your days, or cuddling up next to each other and watching movies late into the night. It was as natural and comforting as it had always been. There was nothing about it that was out of the ordinary - until you would bring up her name.Â
At the mere mention of Isa, Jayoon would become completely disinterested. She would try to change the subject, dismiss everything you were saying, and at times she was just plain rude about not wanting to hear about your new friend.Â
The first time it happened, you had thought that perhaps she was just tired like she said. The second time, you presumed that she was just feeling stressed about school.Â
The third time, you had tried to convince yourself that she simply wanted to talk about something else and that she had thought you were done talking about your meetup with Isa.Â
The fourth time, however, she had groaned, actually groaned(!?), and rubbed her face in her hands. She had acted as if you were a nuisance by simply trying to talk to her, like you wanting to share what you had done and who you had met during your day was something she just couldnât bear listen to because you bored her to death. At least, thatâs the signals you were recieving, and you had had it by now.Â
âNope, thatâs enough,â you snapped, pausing the game and putting your remote down in front of you. Jayoon met your gaze, looking half like a deer in headlights and half as a living question mark, wondering what you wanted and why you had paused the game right in the middle.
âWhat the fuck is up with you, you seem like you get annoyed every time I speak nowadays, did I do something wrong?â you bark out, annoyed at the entire situation, and feeling like shit because the one person you thought wanted to hear your thoughts was behaving in the opposite way of how she usually did.Â
Jayoon looked away from your piercing eyes, fiddling with her controller she bit her lip slightly before answering you. âNo, no of course you havenât done anything wrongâŠâ
âSo then why are you acting like you are disgusted by my voice Yoon?â you rebutted.Â
âOh, come on, you know I donât feel that wayâŠâ
âDo I? Because thatâs exactly what you have been making me feel the past week, every time I try to talk about me meeting up with my new friends you have acted like you donât give a shit about what I have to say or my life,â you said, your voice about to break apart from the emotions welling up in your throat.Â
âI swear, thatâs not it. Iâm just- Iâve been a bit stressed about school, and everything else right now, and Iâm sorry, I didnât mean to take any of it out on you, but I guess I did anyways⊠Iâm sorry okay?â she tried to assure you, and altough she seemed genuine in her apology, you didnât feel that she was being truthful.Â
You wanted to let it go, you needed to let it go, but could you?Â
âSure, I get that, itâs just that it doesnât seem like you, I donât think Iâve ever seen you act like this before⊠it just feels weird I guess. But you know you can talk to me about it, right? I can help you with studying if you need it, even though Iâm unsure I would even understand half of what youâre studying, Iâm here if you decide you need me.â
She had stayed quiet the entire time you had spoken, her eyes had grabbed back onto yours as you ranted and when you were done you felt stuck inside of them. You had always loved her eyes, the way they could feel like pure sunshine and warmth but at the same time as stabbingly ice cold as daggers of pure silver. Her gaze was piercing, but her expression was so gentle. You could swear she looked like she was seconds away from saying something, but she didnât, instead, you parted your own lips slightly, about to ask if she was okay. But instead of the asking, the action caused all of your words to disintegrate into nothing but butterflies trapped in your stomach when you saw her burning eyes leave yours only to land on your lips instead before they flickered back to your eyes with even more intensity.Â
Your mind felt fuzzy, your entire body felt hot and bubbly, that was something you did not wish to feel right now, this was so not the right time⊠But before you could think any further, her face was turning away from you and back to the screen lighting up the room and her face with it. You wouldâve sworn you saw a hint of pink on her cheeks, but it was probably just the lights from the game, or you were mistaken; because why would she be blushing?Â
âShould we just continue?â Jayoon murmured.Â
âWhat, yeah, yeah, we should,â you blurted out as her words dragged you, feet first, out of your mind.Â
.ă»ă.ă»ăâă»..ă»ă.ă»ăâă».
Since then, she had been less rude, at least you didnât feel like she despised you whenever you tried to talk about your day or your friends. Honestly, you were kind of feeling bad for lashing out at her so harshly. Yes, she had been making you feel bad, but it was literally only when you wanted to talk about your new friends, that she didnt even know and also pretty much always when she was already doing something else, you had realized in retrospect. And at all other times, she was the same Yoon you had always known and loved. Attentive, hilarious, caring, and everything else that made her the person you loved so dearly, she was your best friend after all. So maybe it was a little bit understandlable after allâŠright?Â
Maybe, the problem is that she doesnât know them, and maybe, she would be more interested if she knew who you were talking about. So, to somehow kill all of the birds between you two with one stone that was already, very conveniently laying in your hand; you decided to just have them meet up.Â
And so you ended up standing in the kitchen of a house party of someone you did not have a clue who they were, introducing Isa and Jayoon to each other. You tried your best to get them off to a good start, âYoon, this is Isa, and Isa this is Yoon!â you had begun, and Isa had greeted Jayoon like a normal freaking human being. Jayoon on the other hand smiled a half smile, and sloppily shook her hand back with such disinterest you were honestly speechless for a moment.Â
You glanced at her, shooting darts out of your eyes towards her before turning to Isa and giggling out an awkward apology, âI think sheâs just not feeling it tonight,â you put forward.Â
âNo, no I completely get it, this isnât really my type of thing either,â she said, smiling at you and then at Jayoon.Â
It wasnât reciprocated by Jayoon though. Instead, she just glanced at her before turning towards you, âI wanna dance, come with?â she asked. Altough, it was barely a question as she was already pushing you away from the kitchen and towards the dance floor, leaving Isa all alone, confusedly waving to you as you were being shoved into some sort of living room where the lights were flickering on and off in an array of colors along with the beat of the music blasting across the room.Â
âYoon what the hell, I wanted to introduce you two!â you tried to shout to her. But the bass of the song drowned out all other sounds in the room, and Jayoon didnât seem to catch a single word as she began moving to the beat. Her expression had flipped completely from just a minute ago and she was now smiling at you from ear to ear. Nevertheless, you wouldnât dance, standing in front of her with your arms crossed, hoping your body language would be enough to speak for you since she couldnât hear your actual words.Â
She understood. You knew she did, but instead of stopping whatever she was doing, she decided that the thing that would be able to fix your sour mood was the one and only: robot dance.Â
Thatâs correct. She did not stop dancing even when you were frowning in the middle of a crowd that was jumping up and down around you. Instead, she began stiffening her entire body, dragging her arms across the space around her in stiff and controlled movements, jiggling her arm down from an angle while looking at you and wiggling her eyebrows.Â
âDo you really think thatâs gonna work on me right now?â you shouted, trying to get your annoyance across even though a part of you knew it was hopeless.Â
Presumably, that same part was the one that accidentally made you slip up, a small smile making its way to the corners of your lips. Of course, this only spurred Jayoon on and she began making her robotic moves even more exaggerated. Damned is that part of you that couldnât resist laughing at whatever silliness she was doing at all times, but that part did always win in the end, and so you laughed, making her face light up even brighter than before.
Okay, cursing her out could be postponed, you were at a party after all, in the middle of a dancefloor at that, not dancing right now would probably be weirder than dancing along to the weird-ass moves Jayoon was pulling out next to you. So you followed along, first with her robot dance, and after a bit simply into jumping, swaying a bit, letting your body be filled with the sound of the bass rumbling through everything around you. It was hot and slightly sweaty in the body of people moving non-stop around you, and the temperature definitely did not sink in your own body once you caught Jayoons gaze observing you as you danced in front of her. Her movements were slowing with every second, her eyes fixed on you.Â
Suddenly the bubbles filling up your entire body and mind came back faster than you could think to look away. There it was, the feeling you hopelessly wanted to push away, god you needed it to just disappear before you did something stupid. You tried to look away, but before you could you felt a hand lightly touching your waist, and Jayoons body coming closer to yours, moving together, barely matching the rhythm of the crowd around you. Your eyes locked to each other, both of her hands now resting on your hips and your own arms snaking their way to hers. There was that other thing! Her eyes, flickering down to your lips for just a moment only to come right back to your eyes, burning just as fiercely as always when she looked at you in those few moments where you were so impossibly close to each other.Â
What does that even mean? And why does she keep looking at you like that? And why has she been acting so weird with Isa, only to give you these looks - messing with your head and your emotions? And why are you looking down at her lips now? Why canât you resist the thoughts imposing in your brain telling you that you should just lean in and- NO! Do not. You freeze, suddenly hyperaware of her hands, hot on your sides. You needed to get out of here.Â
Breaking eye contact and letting go of her, making her do the same, you began backing away, searching for something to run towards until you saw Isa. She was standing by the exit towards the patio, and you began working your way through the crowd and towards her instead, away from Jayoon and all the dangers of the situations you had just found yourself in.Â
You needed some air.Â
You came up to Isa, sweaty and out of breath, and shouted, âNeed air!â before pulling her with you outside to the brisk night air. Once you found a free spot outside where you could stand back and lean against the cold brick of the facade you let out a deep sigh.Â
Nevertheless, your relief was cut short by Isa interrupting your moment.
âAre you okay? Do you need to throw up?â she asked with concern lacing her voice.
You had almost forgotten that you had brought her outside with you, but now it was kind of a nice distraction if you were being honest. âOh, no Iâm fine, just got a bit hot in there,â you huffed out with a smile.Â
âOkay, well do you want something to drink then? Maybe just some cold water? Iâll run and get some,â she proposed and you nodded and accepted with an exhausted, âThank you, that would be great.â
Isa nodded with a smile. âIâll be right back, donât pass out ok?â she said as she made her way back into the house.Â
You closed your eyes and took a deep breath of the cold air that stung a bit in your nose. But once again, your moment was interrupted. This time it was by Jayoonâs voice asking if you were okay. Your eyes flung open when you heard her voice, and you found her standing right next to you, watching you with a concerned look on her face.Â
âYeah, Iâm fine, as I told Isa; I just needed some air,â you said, trying to keep your composure. But when you caught Jayoon literally rolling her eyes as you said that your composure completely dissolved.Â
âWhat the fuck Yoon? Youâre really rolling your eyes at me right now? Because I didnât feel like dancing anymore or what?â you spout out before you could think, the rage taking over instead. âAlso, why did you act like that before with Isa? You acted so rudely, I just wanted you two to meet so that you could be more interested in hearing about what I had been doing with other people, but I guess that was just too much to ask huh?â you continued, Jayoonâs eyes darkening with every word.Â
âExcuse me what?!â she finally snapped back. âDo you think I would actually be mad at you for not wanting to dance with me anymore? And also, now that weâre talking about that - I never wanted to meet her! So no, I didnât act my best, but I never wanted to be in that situation to begin with, and I donât know why you put me in it like that?â she hissed back at you.Â
âThen what is up with you? I literally donât understand your issue here. I am sorry that I tried to make my best friend meet my other friend that I find really amazing too, but donât act like this is the first time you have acted all weird whenever I mention or talk about her!âÂ
You wanted to calm down, but it was too late, you were mad, and somehow you felt that it was now or never. And apparently so did Jayoon, because she didnât back down either.Â
âYeah? I donât like it when you talk about her. Itâs not like I have committed a sin worthy of you going off on me like this! I donât want to hear about how amazing and freaking perfect this girl that you just met is, I just donât.âÂ
And then it clicked. You squinted at her, suddenly trying to study something in her, âAnd why is that? Why donât you like that?â you said, your voice as clear as glass when you spoke, making Jayoon freeze up both due to the tone and by the question. She backed a step away from you, âI donât know, I just-â she began, her voice void of all anger that had been there just a moment ago, replaced instead by an insecure tremble and shaky eyes looking back at you as you continued to study her every move.Â
âYou just what? What didnât you like about me getting close to Isa?â you said, suddenly much more confident in yourself and your words, taking a step towards Jayoon, closing the distance that she had created by stepping back.Â
âI-â she began, voice shaky until she met your gaze. Your eyes were steady, a glint of hope hiding somewhere in them, combined with your lips, a smile playing at the very corners of them, waiting, hoping.Â
Her eyes widened, and with that, her entire demeanor changed, she didnât shy away, she didnât back up again, and she didnât avoid your eyes anymore. Instead, she stepped closer to you this time, eyes locked on yours as she said, âI was jealous.âÂ
âYou were jealous. And why would you be jealous of me befriending someone like Isa, hm? Is it because sheâs really pretty? Or maybe itâs because I told you I liked her from the first time we talked? Or-â you were interrupted by Jayoon taking yet another step closer, her body now millimeters from yours, making you feel the heat radiating off of her in the cold.Â
She leaned in, âAll of it. I want you to be all mine.âÂ
Your breath hitched, â...oh,â was all you could get out before you both leaned in the last of the bit, your lips meeting and your knees feeling wobbly as you felt her soft lips on yours, kissing you with the same passion that you were kissing her back with. Both of you had let your arms wrap around each other, holding the other close, pressed against each other in your own bubble of warmth.Â
Breaking the kiss and feeling the cold slipping in between you and sweeping over your lips, you breathed out, âI like you.âÂ
After listening for her to say anything for a couple seconds while keeping your eyes closed to stay in that moment, the moment before your friendship would either crash and burn or take on a completely different shape. But, you never did receive a response back so you opened your eyes, only to meet hers staring back at you with a huge grin on her face, âI like you too,â she said through her smile, and you couldnât help but smile back at her before crashing your lips to hers again, letting the bubbles and butterflies surge through your body as you let yourself fall into her right then and there.
