I was wondering what it would look like for a silken bug to age, since they cant molt— I came to the conclusion that they might accumulate silk as they age and get rewoven onto new armature when it is sufficient for a larger frame; this would imply that before each size up a silkling (saw someone use that as a term for small silk being and I thought it was cute) is at their most plush and round. :)

The over accumulation of silk peters out as they reach maturity, so phantom unfortunately is not as plushie in their prime 😔

Lace grows similarly to phantom because grand mother silk reuses phantoms old armature when making her :0 good ol hand me downs, amirite?

Lace was a rambunctious child, and very hard to pin down so phantom gave lace a little ‘finding’ bell so as to keep better track of her, so she would never be lost— it only sort of worked, but lace loved her sibling’s gift and it stayed as a staple in most of lace’s childhood outfits. She really does love her sibling :)

Phantom has an even harder time keeping up with lace’s energy due to their chronic issues with fatigue due to a flaw in their final armature weave— they’re not only more prone to unwinding, but also deal with weakness and fainting spells even when well endowed with silk (Sorgy phantom 😔 im as my fav character im giving you my chronic fatigue, ooo disability be upon you)

G.M. Silk solves the issue when making lace but never goes back to fix phantom :(

Phantom and 2nd sentinel get to know each other because 2nd is ever so frequently finding either phantom or lace alone— it grew concerned seeing phantom running themself into the ground to take care of their duties and lace, so it took to watching over lace for phantom occasionally to give them ample breaks. (Oh ye uh—i don remember 2nd’s pronouns so it/its for now) phantom has grown to recognize 2nd from all the other sentinels due to its unique demeanor towards them :p

My camera is kinda squit so I can’t tell which of these is in focus, oof— yknow how phantom kinda throws themself into battle with hornet as a means to die? Lace doesn’t have much to remember them by but dregs, but she still has their finding bell. It’s scratched, maybe faded, but is associated with too many precious memories— i lov angst, so I drew lace after the events of silksong having a good cry 👍 mm yes I like it when it hurts

I made some close ups for stuffs i guess— and I drew lace and hornet as both bugs and humanoid :0– ya get two for the price o one :) cuz i was havin fun

I’m not good at drawin bugs, and I’m working on fixing that :p but im good at drawing humans!☝️ I do really like this hornet humanization—think I’ll keep her. Same for lace— they come as a pair, do not separate. Unfortunately I didn’t polish most of these cuz i gotta sleep 😔
