I remember when I first tried a handstand; I couldn’t even get my legs over my head to the wall. I was so afraid of being upside down, of my arms deciding they didn’t want to hold me so I would just face plant, of just flipping completely over on my back. That fear came from being stuck in my head and overthinking everything. For me yoga has helped me release my fears (and other negative emotions) in many ways, it has showed me how strong & capable I really am. To the people who don’t practice, yoga just looks like glorified stretching and people pushing their limits to hit intense poses. But what they don’t see is a persons mentality changing for the better day by day; what they don’t see is all the work & practice put in behind the instagram posts; what they don’t see is the love flowing through your body with every breath you take, and every transition you make. When I step on my mat, it’s like I’m home. I’m free from my thoughts, and what’s going on in reality. I let go of what’s holding me back, and it helps me grow to be a better person on and off of the mat. Instagram: the.island.spirit
