The Lockheed YO-3 "Quiet Star" was an American single-engined, propeller-driven aircraft that was developed for battlefield observation during the Vietnam War
First flying in 1969, the Lockheed YO-3 Quiet Star was designed to watch enemy movements in Vietnam with minimal noise. Some pilots of the aircraft were known to fly just 200 feet over Communist soldiers and still go undetected. After the war, the Star was used by the Louisiana Department of Fish and Game and was effectively used to catch poachers. (US Army/Lieutenant General John H. Hay, Jr.)
