soooo I made a couple a matrix guys blinks at you (more info below the cut
ANIMUS: A human born in Zion who's been fighting the machine war since they were born. They’ve lost almost everyone theyve ever loved to the machines and hate robots more than anything. They are a jaded, bitter person who hides their vulnerability and deep love for their city under a war focused world view. They want the war to end more than anything, they would give their life to end the suffering of their people, but they harbor a deep resentment towards Neo as the existence of “The One” makes them feel like all their efforts to save their home are meaningless because they don’t happen to be this one important guy. They feel as though the deaths theyve witnessed throughout their life are reduced to nothing but stalling time for some pod born savior and it sickens them. They’re dating (the later deceased, rip) Charra, who has a more optimistic view of the situation they live in but is just as willing to lay down their life for the people they care about, they’re Animus’s only soft spot that they let show. They underwent an experimental surgical procedure that allows them to venture into the matrix despite being Zion born, though this process was not without side effects and they’re often unstable both in and outside of the matrix.
THE DIAGNOSTICIAN (AKA YLEXI): A program meant to correct other programs when they are unsatisfied or becoming an issue. They act as a therapist and genuinely want the best for their fellow programs in their own unsettling way, but if talking through their problems doesn’t correct the behavior, they have to resort to other measures. Despite the fact their job is to humanize their fellow machines to keep them in line, they themselves act odd and off putting, even for a part of the system. Their attitude is closer to that of the agents than it is to the oracle or Merovingian and they’re somewhat infamous for it. They pose no physical danger to the escaped humans but their fascination with humanity can put someone they manage to trap in serious danger. They want to crack the human psyche and correct them the way they can correct machines, they want this to treat humanity better and make them happier, but due to their lack of perception for human emotion, these methods tend to break the human psyche rather than fix them, so doing deals with them can often prove risky. Escaped humans are advised to keep their mouths shut and faces unreadable unless strictly necessary, lest they try to get inside your head.
